Great post George.
You might consider repeating it on VAF as I recollect this issue has come up over
there too.

There was a notice in the latest RV-ator about George Goff's RV-6A first
flight. He's in Missouri City, TX. Does any one know how I can contact
George? I want to ask him about his prop. He's never posted to the list,
apparently because I couldn't find him in the archives.
Thanks,
Tom Sargent, RV-6A

Decided to put one of Mark Landoll's 12 pound weights on my RV-4 with an
0-320. Tried to contact him at _landollskydoll2001@yahoo.com_
(mailto:landollskydoll2001@yahoo.com) where I have in the past. No joy. Anyone have a
different email address for him or have one of these critters for sale?

Thanks, Ron, I enjoy doing it. With the Meniere's stuff progressing (or
at least not relenting), of course, I've grounded myself and I find myself
not so much bummed that I probably won't be able to fly an RV (at least as
PIC) but that if I'm not flying, I'll lose touch with the part about
BUILDING an RV that I've found the most enjoyable -- all the people. So this
keeps me "grounded" in another way, I guess. This week has been kinda tough
because yesterday was the day my 90 day "currency" expired at the FBO where
I rent, so even if I were inclined to skirt the regs (knowing a
disqualifying condition yada yada yada), that's the point at which you
realize you won't be in the air again for awhile.
Anyway, so that's why first flight stories, and stories about people using
their RV to get from point A to Point B or something that might seem mundane
to the person who's been flying an RV for more than a few hours as mundane,
strikes me as interesting as all getout.
For you folks who are flying, -- and many of you building -- thre's a whole
lot of people living vicariously.
So back at you. Thanks for THAT.
Bob

Yep, that is why my airshow specialty and trademark is a low speed high
altitude pass. I don't even have to do it inverted, at 10,000 feet AGL
spectators can't tell the difference!
I have never flown in a canyon below the treetops at 160KTS, and I promise
I won't do it again.
On the other hand my American Idol, Patty Wagstaff, says she loves to fly
low level aerobatics, and never misses an opportunity to do it.
Regardless, I do not consider flying my RV a cheap thrill, on a Whitewater
River Raft Guides salary, flying is not cheap!!!! As a professional guide,
I get paid to perform what some may call a "Thrill". And based upon my
salary, yep, it is cheap!

I didn't want to respond, but since someone else already did, what the heck.
Some would say those who fly "home-made airplanes" are seeking a cheap thrill!
Each and every pilot has different comfort and ability levels. Please don't judge
those of us who fly more aggresively, and I won't judge those of you who fly
the way you do.
