      Jim,
I have the same configuration . I fabricated a metal bracket which I mounted
under the composite sump using the four threaded mounting points provided. The
bolts were safety wired. This mounted the throttle cable.I used Van's kit to mount
      the mixture control.

Somewhere I have my shop drawings. No promises but if you send me your snail
mail address off line I will photo same and send them....That is if I can find
      them.

Superior wrote me recently that they were replacing the Ryton sump with a metal
unit under development.Hopefully the same mount will work.

We are beginning to install the accessories on our Superior parallel valve O-360

they had no info on this configuration and couldn't offer any help on how
the throttle and mixture cables are routed and mounted on the engine. If anyone

Today @ 8:45 AM N-898SC RV-8 QB took to the air and flew just like
an RV with a 0-360 and a hartzell prop. Left wing is a touch heavy but

        just a sweet flying plane.

This kit was # 80533. The tail kit changed hands 3 times before I
      ended up with it.
It took 3 hurricanes and one divorce to build. which is about 2.5
      years

As I remember there are no age limits on either the first class med or the
ATP, the limit was on what you could use it for. If memory serves, when the
age 60 rule went into effect, there was a companion rule that no one over 55

| Subject: | Re: Mounting throttle and mixture cables |

      Jim:

I too have the same set up -- I used the mixture set up from Vans and
      also used Vans
prop gov. hardware. I used the eye ball mounts through the fire
wall. I fabricated a throttle cable
mount out of .063 sheet steel that uses two adjacent bolts on the
      Ryton sump. It looks good
and the cable run is nice and straight. One of the Matronics
listeners sent me pictures of the one
he fabricated and I made one similar to his. I fabricated three of
them until I got one I liked --
pretty simple to do I used a cheep metal brake that I got from Harbor
Freight for ten bucks or so.
If you want I'll try to find the pictures he sent and get pics of
the one I ended up with. I too hope
that Superior's new sump is similar enough to the Ryton that I don't
      have to repeat the whole
      process again.

      best wishes
dave (in the midst of wiring and the cowling)

| Subject: | Wing bolt torque values |

      Hi there,
Attaching the wings and looking for torque settings for the bolts. AN-4 at
50-70 inch pounds (two bolts into the center web of the spar), AN5 at 100-140
inch pounds (rear spar). Now for the close tolerance bolts I am thinking to
use the approx diameter and go with those settings. For the big boys, NAS 1307-
50 (they approx 7/16) so going 450-500 inch pounds and the smaller NAS1304-50
(approx 1/4) I am going 50-70 inch pounds.

This is for an RV-8 with the new wing. Does this sound right? Does anyone
      have any "better" numbers?
      Thanks for the help.

      John,

      I like that serial number.

Those are the numbers I used on my -7A and the wings haven't fallen off in
      over 2 years.

      To "N" number or not?

I would have thought that in a country that likes suing each other as
much as you guys do the last thing you would do is engrave an
identification number on something that can fall off an airplane and
      drop through someone's roof

      Just a thought :-)

BTW we in Australia are not far behind you guys.

      Cheers

i had my caps engraved on a 202. be sure to put your n number on them so
      they dont 'walk away'.

any jewelry shop can engrave them.

Find some lawyer that owns an aircraft, and put his N number on
it :). No one will steal fuel caps with an N number on them, so the
      theft problem is solved too.

Don't know about a "202" or jewelry store but I had one done at a trophy
      store and the results SUCK.

We installed two blast tubes to the alternator, one to the vaccuum pump, one
to each of the mags, and one to cool the fuel transducer which comes close
      to the exhaust pipe.

YES it is Rick Gray from the Buffalo Farm, Ohio.

Several of your friends up there in the North-Wet have been in touch with
      him.

I gave the president of your EAA Chapter his Cell phone number.

There is lots of chatter about this on OhioValleyRVator group and VAF
      forums.

There will be a hearing on this case next week. I have obtained the EAA motion
from John Wiegenstein, an RV builder and an attorney who was kind enough to do
some of the legwork for me. And today I received the plaintiff's response to
      the motion.

I'm working on the story now and it will be in the RV Builder's Hotline, hopefully,
      on Friday or Saturday.

The article suggests that it was a brand new aircraft. First question mark.
      Probably just new to him.

Then the landing point was perhaps 20 miles from departure (Sandy). So the
"owning for a few minutes" seems accurate as least as far as flying "his"
      plane.

It will be interesting to find out why he was forced down so soon after
      take-off.

It also seems like his landing point was essentially an extended final for
      runway 7 at Troutdale.

| Subject: | Price Increase Rant |

Today I placed a small order with Aircraft Spruce and was shocked at the
price increases that have occured in the past year. I am in the final stages
of completing my RV4 and needed a few minor items to finish off some small
details. I always study the aircraft builders bible (ACS catalog) before
ordering on line and was aware of the advertized price in the catalog. I was
also aware that my catalog was a 2005/2006 edition and that the prices most
likely had gone up. Well the prices had gone up 34% over the advertized
price in the catalog . We are talking in one year! Whats the inflation rate?
      Maybe 5 or 6%? I just don't see a 34% increase. My wages don't increase at
that rate per year. Everyone talks about attracting new persons into
aviation but how many would take the plunge if they new prices for the
material they are going to need is going to cost 1/3 more each year? Whats
the game plan here? Bleed everyone death so that there will not be any
general aviation in the future? It all seems self defeating. Drive your
customer base out of flying and then you go next.

Maybe I should take up bass fishing. At least I could eat some fish that I
catch in my $40,000 Ranger Bass boat that I pull to the lake in my $45,000
      diesel pick-up truck.

ACS does have excellent customer service though. I guess I just have to pay
      for it.

      I feel much better now.

Depends on who you ask, I say no they do not even have good customer
service, but we've been down this
