Hello Dean,
Google SMC fittings To view alternative fittings.
They cost a bit more But I think their system is a good alternative choice.

I had a resonant vibration that would occur at low power settings in
flight. The baffle seal on one side was a bit too short and would flip
inside out. I extended the baffle seal and the problem went away.

Dean...
Used these in first RV-8. Still waiting for first flight next month.
I use this tubing and these connectors at work to test our products. Typically
hand tighten and then 1/4 turn for final snug. I am pressurizing these connections
to 100 - 200 psi. No leaks.
All my tubing is Parker Parflex polypropelene. (The same stuff Van's sells) Fittings
are Parker nylon w/O-ring, stainless steel grasp ring and nut.

Subject: | Weld-On 10 for sale |
Thanks to my relocation and subsequent hanger/shop build out, I have beco
me much farther behind than I could have anticipated. Because of this I fi
gure I better sell my Weld-On 10 that Van's uses to glue in the windows on
the RV-10.
According to the IPS website, the minimum shelf life of it is one year an
d it is lengthened when refrigerated. I have kept this in a 40 degree frid
ge or a sub freezing workshop since I bought it and the production date on
four of the kits is March 10, 2006 and one is April 7, 2006. They should
have another 6 months left in them.
So if you are near that point I'll sell all 5 kits for $50 with USPS ship
ping. That is an easy $20 - $25 off of Van's price with shipping and handl
ing. Please contact me off list.

Dean,
With the plastic fittings what you have described for the tightening should
be good. hand tigh with about another 1/4 turn with the wrench. You will
find out if they leak when you do the pitot static test .
Good to hear from you. How close are you to being done?

Subject: | Support From Vans |
I'm a first time builder, have been working on my RV-7A for more than four years,
and have recently taken delivery of the finishing kit. (The pace is going
to pick up come June 30th when I finally retire.) I'm lucky in that I have a
great source of local support and advice in the person of three-time builder (two
6As and a 7A) Fred Stucklen from East Windsor, CT so I haven't had to call
Vans for advice all that often. In four years I've probably called the builders'
assistance office 15 times at the very most. With but one exception, all
of the folks I've spoken with have been professional, helpful and courteous.
I don't recall who the exception was but I do recall he was a bit of a wise guy.
My experience with Vans over the past four years has been quite positive;
they're a class act and they put out a great product.
