If you are near lakeland you can stop by my hanger today ( we are all having a
hanger BBQ). You can see what Florida Aircraft Painting (Bartow)did for me and
accross from my hanger is a CJ (yak) that was painted in Lakeland. I spoke to
the paint shop in Lakeland ( I am based in Lakeland) and Batow and came away
with the feeling that Bartow enjoyed painting RVs. Price was fair and I am happy
with the job I got.? My cell is area code 863 then 206 and lastly 3991.

On this subject, has anyone found that your batteries drain very
quickly? I think my connection via the cig cord must be intermittent.

Subject: | Camping at OSH - Couch Disaster |
The sad thing is the motorized couch might not make it this year...see...it
met an unfortunate fate last fall. When loaned to a friend, his teenage son
and some friends took it out for a joyride (against everyones explicit
instructions) and had an incident between the couch and a hangar. They
didn't realize that losing control of the sofa and hitting a hangar at 40mph
with a couch would result in both personal injury as well as completely
totalling the couch. The hit the hangar with the couch so hard that it put
a dent in the hangar, as well as literally shearing the crankshaft on the
engine. Bent everthing including the frame, and just generally ripped the
couch apart into little pieces.
Thankfully, the FAA or NTSB wasn't called (as this technically would have
been an "accident"), but sadly the couch and all it's complement of drive
gear was destroyed.
So, the couch is almost completely re-built from scratch, but it's still
awaiting upholstery. If it gets re-upholsetered by OSH, the we'll try to
have the couch there. It'll have lost some of it's charm since the covering
will not be vintage 1950's anymore, but it should still be a nice motor
vehicle for both traveling around the campground and relaxing on for a few
adult beverages.
Anyway, just thought you might like to know what has happened to the sofa in
case we don't get it there this year!
Cheers,
Stein.

Dave, I had my RV-6 painted at Florida Aircraft Painting at the Bartow
Airport. About 10 miles from Lakeland. Contact Gerry Butterworth 863-534-3626.
He has done many RVs, does nice work and is reasonable in price. Mine is a
base white with two different shades of metallic teal for stripes. A DuPont
system of base coat and clear coat. Although it wasn't just the paint job
that got me Reserve Grand Champion at SnF, but it probably helped. (pictures

Last two years, the Homebuilt Camping was NEXT to the RV parking area.
Maybe Jeff Point will speak up and let you know if it is not.
Many camp near their airplane but some park the airplane with the RV
aircraft then pitch the tent elsewhere. I prefer to stay with the airplane
when I camp. I have an air conditioned dorm room in Taylor Hall the past
two years. Only camped once so am NO expert on RV aircraft camping at
Oshkosh.
Have camped next to the RV in the airplane camping area my first year there
with the RV back in 1998.
This is 35-years since Van first brought the RV-3 to Oshkosh. I hope one in
every five flying RVs flying are planning 0n being there this year. Would
love to see 1,000+ flying Van's RVs on the airport during AirVenture.

There is no limit to the "camping at OSH" advantage- multiple EAA newsletter
articles can't be wrong! Just go. Scholler or homebuilt, don't matter- each
choice is inhabited with interesting folk and well worth the effort. No
regrets, come by and say "howdy"- just might get ya a free beverage, hours of BS,
and a lifelong friendship, plus you are right there in the middle of it all
with no need to go anywhere else....
One of my best memories was walking down to the vintage area one evening as
the sun was heading west and spending an hour (or more, wasn't keeping track)
yakking with this old guy who had flown a Curtiss Robin in. Priceless & end of
story. Y'all need to do this. OSH is much more than awards & airshows...

Once again, after a long period of inactivity, I have updated my website at
www.flion.com <http://www.flion.com/> . About 90 new pictures of the
project and other related things. The longest RV-6A project is beginning to
wind down. Hopefully, there'll be 2-3 more updates by about this time next
year, the last of which should be to announce the first flight. Anyway,
that's the plan. Enjoy the site.

The CONDOR speaks and tosses down the gauntlet! What's the possibility of a
1KRVFB (1000 RVs buzzing OSH (FlyBys) in short order?!) I can imagine a swarm
gathering in a large circle around the circumference of Lake Winnebago ready
to low-pass OSH in an in-trail fury/glory of RVs at 3 second intervals- damn
good intro to the daily airshow one day!
Awesome logistics- recovery at OSH, Appleton and Fon-du-lac or elsewhere-
well worth the effort IMHO!!!
Give me the opening & I'm in- all others be intensely ashamed you're not!

Subject: | VM1000 fuel pressure sender |
I did the troubleshooting today per the VMS guidelines, and it definitely IS
the pressure sender that has gone tango uniform. It has the proper 5VDC
supply but is sending out higher Volts/psi than it should. Even with the fuel
line fully vented, the pressure reading is 3 psi and with either the boost
pump on or the engine pump running it reads 7-8 psi. Pretty clear.
Could anyone with the same item tell me the VMS Part Number for the
carbureted fuel pressure sender, so I can cross check them to ensure that they
don't
send me the wrong one? This is for the original VM1000 circa 1996, not for
the new VM1000C.

Maybe I will. Homebuilt camping will be in the same place (just west of
Area 51/ RV parking) as it has been the past 3 years. Plenty of room
there to camp with your plane, but it is pretty benign compared to
camping in Scholler, that's where the real fun is.

Gary- are you volunteering to help us park all 1000 of them? We're
expecting a bumper crop of RVs this year (500 or so) and we're already
wondering where we are going to put them all. 1000 would give us fits,
and half of them would end up at Fon du Lac. I requisitioned 500 ARM
Aerolifts <http://www.armaerospace.com/> a few years back to help solve
this problem. Still waiting to hear back on that one.
