Robin et.al. I now have 1600 hours on my RV8 with the Sky Bolt Stainless fasteners and adjustable receptacles.. When I built my RV8 10 years ago the Skybolt fasteners were just coming on the market. The regular fasteners available at that time were all to long for the limited clearance and also thin top cowl that Van supplies. At that time I became acquainted with the owners of Skybolt and advised them of my requirements. They then designed an extra short fastener ( number 0) and a adjustable receptacle that would clear the engine. I have never had a problem with the fasteners or the Skybolt people. They have been honest and prompt with delivery. Good luck with your project. I review them each time before I post a question with limited success. It is time to make a Cowl Fastener decision. I plan on using Skybolt STYLE CLoc adjustable fasteners on part of my cowl assembly. I remember a discussion on the list that suggested alternate brands or styles of these fasteners. Does anyone have a preference as to the fastener you would choose as my archive search has been fruitless. Thanks Dick, I had initially decided to use the Skybolts on only the upper firewall and the underside of the bottom cowl (SJ Cowl). Since then I purchased a complete set to connect the upper & lower cowl too. I prefer the clean look of the wire but the SB's with the really nice backing strip are too good a combination. I have to say however for the budget minded builder a simple solution are $0.05 S/S machine screws and countersunk washers. My RV-6A has a full set (only wire is on the sides of the lower cowl) and this looks good, works great and can be replaced any place there is a hardware store. I also think the S/S screw set up is a lot lighter. Robin RV-4 Sold RV-6A 450 Hours RV-10 Panel this week??? Do Not Archive

MARCH 1 Due to predicted weather in the east, the postponement is official. The ne w date is March 1 at light30 till dark30. The weather front predicted to c ome through Friday night is a mix of rain, freezing rain changing to rain. The front is supposed to pass here sometime early Saturday morning, giving way to partly cloudy skies with a Sat. high of only 36. The front will be just east of here, which would preclude all of those east and northeast fr om attending. The extended forecast is calling for temps into the 50's by t he end of next week. Much better than this weekend. I will keep everyone informed. OK gang, i39, Richmond, Madison Kickoff Flyin is officially on the books for Saturday Feb. 23rd. We have had a new business take over the FBO. Warbirds of America also has relocated to the corporate hangar. The appearance of the FBO has substantially changed along with the attitudes and environment. The airport is once again a nice place to hang out. The new owners have leased a mobile fuel truck so no long lines will be present at the fuel farm. i39 is located in Central Kentucky, just south of Lexington. We have had over 100 GA aircraft here for this one day flyin. The list of RV goes from RV-3s to Evos, Harmons, Supers to 4's, 6's, 7's, 8's, 9's....but no 10's as of last year. Let's change that one. This is a very low key, get the birds out and stretch those legs after the prior couple of months of winter weather flyin. I'm not going to jinx the weather, suffice to say we have had a couple good years of weather. The following weekend will be the rain day.....but it won't have to be used!! Remember, if you fly in there will be no ambulances, firetrucks or emergency personnel on site........there, that out of the way. We will once again have free coffee, donuts, Hooters wings, hotdogs, colas, water ........................and..............again this year...............a client is showing up with his mobile corn roaster!! Starting time is light 30 with closing at dark 30. Bring your camera and best lies, you will need the best of both. No vendors, no $3 hotdogs, no forums, no nothing, just airplanes and friends. We again, I'm sure will have members of TeamRV and the Ohio Valley RVators formation teams flying in with lots of individual RVs. Be careful, this is an uncontrolled airfield with no NOTAMS, no nothing, safety is up to you. Keep your head on a swivel and use the radio. You know the drill. Looking forward to seeing everyone nice and early. 60 degrees and sunshine.....YES, that's what we are pulling for!! Having visited Savannah, GA, I'd spend my spare time visiting downtown Savannah... Absolutely beautiful area with ton's of history. You can see RV's anywhere, but you can only see Savannah while you are there...... Just my humble opinion..... -Mike do not archive -----Original Message----- From: owner-rv-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-rv-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Kevin Horton Sent: Monday, February 18, 2008 9:23 PM Subject: RV-List: Savannah, GA? If I have any free time, I would be interested in meeting up with any local RVers. Kevin Horton Ottawa, Canada RV-8 Final Assembly http://www.kilohotel.com/rv8/

Kevin Horton Ottawa, Canada RV-8 Final Assembly http://www.kilohotel.com/rv8/ Kevin: You might try to look in at Eagle Neck fifteen or so miles south of Savannah. It is an airpark cut out of the pines and rather like landing in a 100' deep trench. There are several RV builders there. The area is tidal marsh and lovely in its own right. Gordon Comfort
