Subject: | Stormy's Annual Fly-in date set |
Bill and Miriam are happy to invite all our flying friends near and far to
the annual fly-in, BBQ, and river float at our farm. This year (our 6th, I
believe) the date will be Saturday, June 21. Rain date: 6.28/08. Please
reserve it on your calendar and plan to be here.
More details, as always, will follow as the date draws closer.

A bald-faced scam, absolutely. And disgraceful English, for a subject of

I'd send him the requested info, with a few digits out of sequence, just to
play with him and get his panties in a bunch.

Can anyone shed some light on what's included when one orders the
Elevator (or Aileron) Trim Kit (EE-KIT/SERVO) from Van's accessory catalog?
Surely there must be something more than the servo alone as Van's
charges $260 but it's a Ray Allen Company $155 servo, isn't it?
http://rayallencompany.com/products/servos.html
Am I missing something here?
BTW, is the RAC T3-12A servo used for RV-8 elevator trim? How about
RV-8 aileron trim?
Thanks,
Joe

That would be formed sheet metal & hardware to adapt it to the RV's
construction.

The link you provided is just for the lonely servo, but no switches or
indicator. You will need more then just the servo to make it work...

Thanks, Konrad. Also heard similar from Bob Newman of TCW.
Now I understand: rocker switch, bar graph indicator, sheet metal
brackets, clevis, and push rod. I didn't realize that. The RAC servos
I've installed (in non-RVs) needed stick grips with switches and relay
decks but I guess the Van's trim kit could be considered a complete
installation if one was satisfied without the extras.
Thanks,
Joe

Subject: | Loose Taildragger Spring |
To any and all RV tail dragger builders out there,
A friend with an RV-6 tail dragger (he is not the builder) has noticed that his
tail spring seems to be slightly loose in the spring socket. When he asked me
about it I told him that I have never heard of this occurring before but that
I would query the list to see if anyone has experienced any problems in that
area. My only guess is that the bolt may be loose enough to permit the bolt
hole, bolt or both to wear. Anyone have any experience with this condition?
