Guys, I've finally got all of the white vinyl removed! Here is a technique that helped a lot. From my local hardware store I bought a roll of foil tape with a very sticky adhesive. It's called Intertape #698. It looks like a roll of duct tape but is foil based. I did a quick wipe of the white vinyl using MEK to remove any oil. A strip of this tape was firmly pressed over the vinyl. The end of the tape is VERY slowly pulled away in a perpendicular direction from the vinyl. You will need a new single-edge razor blade to get the vinyl started to separate from the aluminum to remain attached to the foil tape. (Round the corners of the blade to reduce scratching.) Take a heat gun and apply a little heat to the skin, vinyl, and foil. You will find the vinyl adhesive will begin to lose some of its adhesion to the aluminum. You may have to occasionally use the razor to lift a section of vinyl that broke free of the foil. I was able to remove vinyl from 4 wings bays in about 90 minutes. The only purpose of the foil is to strengthen and keep the brittle vinyl in one piece while using the heat gun to soften the old vinyl adhesive. Joe Connell RV-9A N95JJ

    From: "BuckWynd" <buckwynd@aol.com>
Just thought everyone would like to know about our new series of DVDs for RV builders and those who are just getting started. The first title is, appropriately enough, "RV Builder Basics: Getting Started." It's hosted by Les Bourne, whose RV-8 has won numerous awards at Oshkosh and Sun-n-Fun. More information at . Thanks!
