    John, Poor electrical connections will also cause the symptoms you are experiencing. Check all connections at the sensor and instrument ends. Also look for any possible intermittent short to ground along the sender wire. On the way back from OSH I noticed the oil pressure (as measured on an International Electronics digital OPT-1 meter) dropping to 20PSI - it normally runs 72-74 PSI. I was running at 2300 RPM so I increased engine RPM to 2500 and the oil pressure immediately climbed back to normal and stayed there for (perhaps) an hour and the did it again. Increase in RPM again put the oil pressure into normal range and it stayed there for the rest of the flight. My thought it that the sensor may be at fault, but at $123 to replace it I want to eliminate everything else I can think of before buying a replacement. What is your guess, ideas, suggestions, hints, etc. Any input would be appreciated. John at Salida, CO

    Jim, you are exactly right. I was troubleshooting something like this on my RV. Added another oil pressure gauge to verify my system. When that confirmed the readings were right I checked the oil screen and it was full of metal. I am not saying that it is the case with you John but I would check things as Jim suggested before flying again. Inspect it carefully for metal partials. Also remove the screen and inspect it. As suggested by Mark Burns remove inspect and replace the oil pressure regulator valve. Send an oil sample to a lab to get a best guess as to internal wear and tear. Hopefully you will not find engine pieces with part numbers on them.{[;-) Be cautious when trouble shooting the oiling system behavior you describe. What you describe sounds very much like you could possibly be getting a warning for a lubrication system failure that at the very least could be expen$ive. I'm not trying to scare you. It may well be a simple sending unit failure mode or some such simple fixable item. I have never liked to hear engine stoppage stories. I have hear a few too many of late.     Everyone else has made good suggestions. After all that there is one more thing to keep in the bacvk of your head. It may not be an issue but then a gain...... And that would be the oil pump. If the gears in the oil pump a re starting to go it can display the symptoms you gave. If all else looks good then this amy be where you will end up looking especially if you can't find evidence in the engine logs that the AD about this was ever accomplis hed. Check everything else first=2C then ground run it some more with a di rect reading pressure gauge before you do any tearing into.     I've got the battery backup in the Dynon and I consider it my backup to the main EFIS (Blue Mountain). Both have independent and separately located Magnetometers. Since I aligned both instruments to be exactly NSE&W and did the calibration on both per specs, I printed up a compass card and posted it. ie N=360 , S = 180 etc. You folks see anything wrong with my logic here? It all works and seems safe to me.     I've got a Dynon 100 (with battery backup), a 396 in a gizmo mount, an ADI with gps (gives track and has battery backup), an auto pilot with internal "gyros", a whiskey compass, and if all else fails my iphone has a compass that works pretty good if you hold it away from the rest of the electronic stuff.     Subject: Plane Power Alternator

    Hi Guys, I have a Plane Power alternator Model AL 12-E160/B (the same as in Vans catalogue). However I do not have a boss mounting kit that usually comes with it. Does anyone know if the ES ALT-BKT Boss Mount Alternator Bracket Kit from Vans will do the trick? I asked Vans but they don't know. Regards Andrew Leopold

    Subject: Leather Upholstery Arrives...
    The leather upholstery from Classic Aero Designs ( http://www.classic.aero ) arrived yesterday. In a word: BEAUTIFUL! Very professional looking and something you'd see in a fine Italian sports car! The supple leather feels so nice sliding down into. Everything fit very nicely including the LCD screen and rear-view camera in the pilot's head rest. The arm-rests also fit nicely as did the stick boots. The comfort of the leather and all ComforFoam combination can only truly be experienced to be fully appreciated! I'm also so glad that I took the extra time and foam cutting iterations to get the seats cut just right as well as the relationship of the arm-rest height and width to pilot fit. When you sit in either the front or the back seat, your hands and arms fall very comfortably on to the throttle and stick. It almost feels like an extension of one's own body. Very cool indeed!! Luke Doughton of Classic Aero Designs has been awesome to work with on this iterative process, and I really appreciate the extra time and care he and his staff have taken to get me just the setup I was dreaming of.
