From: "Robin Marks" I have looked at the Contour HD closely but I will need a remote on/off as I may mount cameras in places that will be impossible to get to in-flight. I have decided to go two different ways. #1 was to purchase a couple of the Sony Webbers. They shot in 1080P HD, record to Memory Stick and are only $129.99. The rotating lens makes for easy positioning. I have also purchased a very cool RAM suction mount system for about $35.00. I also decided to imbed some 560 line Sony style bullet cameras kind of like this: They are about $100 but require a 12V power supply (easy ships power) and a DVR type device to record one or more video feeds. Because these are so small (thumb size) they can be placed many different places and because they are not the recording portion of the system I can see sticking them out in the breeze while the brains of the system in secure inside. The additional benefit is I should have access to the DVR type device to turn on & off. With a the Webby and Contour HD you have to physically touch the camera to turn on & off. I expect much will be out of reach in a tandem aircraft. Including the ones mounted outside. This is why I have been looking for a single or multi source portable HD DVR. Typical Staples cables that are $30.00 are $3.00-4.00 here. http://www.cablewholesale.com/ Great customer service, fast shipping. They offer a 10% discount on any web order with a discount code. The discount code I use is: as2522 If you create a free log in account and use the discount code once they always apply the discount on future orders. I plan to delay painting until after the plane accumulates some hours. I was going to apply primer to the fiberglass - Sems Self-Etching grey - the same stuff I used on the metal. However, a VAF poster said that self-etching primer is not to be used on fiberglass. When I then asked for an alternative, I received limited response. How valid is the assertion that selfetching primer doesn't work on fiberglass. I did apply a single coat to my canopy skirts over a year ago and they seem fine. And can anyone recommend a Sems alternative?
