What is this stuff and where can I get it? Would red RTV work as well, or is it too viscous? -- Tom Sargent ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 08:52:15 PM PST US Subject: Re: RV-List: red goo on firesleeve From: Larry Bowen You can thin the RTV. It comes in the same tube as caulking so you can apply it with your normal caulking gun. Both Lowes and Home Depot stock it in their aviation departments. The RTV is fine for sealing firesleve ends. If yopu need to seal an opening for wire pass thooughs the previously mentioned fire seal is better. When heated it expands and forms an even better seal. Over heated RTV will run. Not a problem on firesleve ends but a major problem if it leaves an opening that fire can pss through.
