Shortly after completing my RV8, I realized that a trim system would be a good addition. Primarily because I noticed that after using 3 or 4 gallons of fuel off of one side, I noticed that the wing tanks became lighter and required aeleron input or trim. On short flights, it did not make much difference. However, on longer flights it became tiresome holding left or right stick to stay level. I looked at vans trim system and realized it would work ok, however, it would increase stick load right of left depending on fuel usage. As a result, I designed an aeleron/elevator trim system using miniture trim tab built into the outboard edge of the aeleron( approx 1 1/2" x 6") driven by a miniture MAC trim motor. This required a very minor change in aeleron balance (it probably would have been ok without it but, I felt more comfortable because I race my airplane,,and at speeds of 240 mph,I had some concern. I also used a similar trim syster in the elevator. Call for info. Do most planes have it installed? My plane isn't flying yet - I hope to have 1st flight in a few weeks- and I was just about to install it. If the consensus is that it isn't worth it, I will forgo installation. -- Tom Sargent, RV-6A, pretty close to flying ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Matronics Email List Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post A New Message rv-list@matronics.com UN/SUBSCRIBE http://www.matronics.com/subscription List FAQ http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/RV-List.htm Web Forum Interface To Lists http://forums.matronics.com Matronics List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com Full Archive Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search 7-Day List Browse http://www.matronics.com/browse/rv-list Browse Digests http://www.matronics.com/digest/rv-list Browse Other Lists http://www.matronics.com/browse Live Online Chat! http://www.matronics.com/chat Archive Downloading http://www.matronics.com/archives Photo Share http://www.matronics.com/photoshare Other Email Lists http://www.matronics.com/emaillists Contributions http://www.matronics.com/contribution ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These Email List Services are sponsored solely by Matronics and through the generous Contributions of its members.
