My rule, always dimple, unless it is impossible. I agree, but the question here is perhaps a bit different: You can't dimple the longeron so: Dimpling the lower of two overlapping skins will require machine countersinking the longeron to accept the intermediate skin dimple. Would it be better to lose the metal from a machine coutersink in the intermediate skin and only a hairs width from the longeron? In either case, I WILL always be dimpling the top (outer) skin. So:, I plan to machine countersink the longerons only for the keeper rivets in the rear, and along the canopy areas where there is no overlapping top skin. Is this right? Thanks, Jim My rule, always dimple, unless it is impossible. OR: Should I machine countersink the lower skin and longeron (1 step). (Leaves undesireable thin sidewall bearing area on skin) Thanks, Jim Clark
