Could you perhaps flip the control arm on the governor 180 degrees to reverse the operation? >a different prop. Unfortunately it seems to work backwards, the engine >smoothes out and rpm increases when you pull the lever back. We believe we >have the wrong Gov and it is time for a replacement. Glen Matejcek

Subject: Replacement Prop Governor Suggestion - Resolved
It turns out the prop governor was not going to work for my combination. I knew I should have made a RV8 Pusher! On the advice of Charlie we contacted Southwest Aero for what turned out to be Extremely Friendly & knowledgeable information. Great recommendation Charlie! Ultimately I went with a new Prop Governor from Vans and will be selling back my current governor for about 1/4th the new unit purchase price. Could be worse. I am happy with this solution even though it was a bit pricey but I have a shiny new accessory that should give me years of service. Thanks everyone, Robin *From:* owner-rv8-list-server@matronics.com [mailto: owner-rv8-list-server@matronics.com] *On Behalf Of *Robin Marks *Sent:* Tuesday, February 22, 2011 1:47 PM *To:* rv8-list@matronics.com; rv-list@matronics.com; rv7-list@matronics.com *Subject:* RV8-List: Replacement Prop Governor Suggestion Dear list, We are very close to flying the 8A and have run our 400 TTSOH engine with new Hartzell BA Prop. Everything runs great with the exception of the Prop Governor direction. The unit came off a Lake Amphibian LA-4-200 with a different prop. Unfortunately it seems to work backwards, the engine smoothes out and rpm increases when you pull the lever back. We believe we have the wrong Gov and it is time for a replacement. Here are the specifics: Prop: New Hartzell, HC-C2YR-1BFP/F7497 Engine: IO-360-AIB 200 Hp Hartzell Prop. Gov: The alum. tag is hard to read. Model F-6-5 ** Prior Aircraft: Lake LA-4-200 Ser. No. 465 My question; is there a preferred Prop Governor on the market for this prop & engine combination? I read on the Hartzell site the recommended Hartzell governor is the S-1-10. Any comments or recommendations? Thanks, Robin RV-4 Sold RV-6A Sold RV-10 210 Hours RV-8A Soon ** Model F-6-5 I'm sure about the "F" and the "6", pretty sure about the "5", it could have another digit after the 5, can't tell. Ser. no. -7310T, the dash could be an "A" or "?-" * * * * * * ------------------------------ No virus found in this message. Checked by AVG - www.avg.com

The gas shocks in my RV-6A that hold the canopy up seem to have both conked out tonight. I know I can order new ones from Van's but are there equivalent automotive gas shocks that would be available at a local auto parts store? -- Tom Sargent
