I would like to thank everybody that came to my ignition presentation and also
stopped by Russs supercharged 7. I look forward to seeing the group at the next

Started my plane yesterday after a fuel stop and my Garmin 696 would not boot up.
It just says 'software missing'. I tried updating it with new software through
the updater, thru the sd card, and directly from the executable file with
no luck. Did lots of internet searches with no luck.
Does anyone have any ideas or know if there is a hard reset or software update
mode for the 696? Garmin customer service isn't open on the weekends.....

Call someone at Oshkosh and ask them to stop by the booth and ask them for you.

WAG: If the unit has an internal 'computer' battery, try changing that.
Seems to be a recurring problem on older units.
