Subject: | RV6 gear leg jack point |
What size is the clamp in the Vans gear leg jack point kit? Or to put it
another way, what's the diameter of the RV6 gear leg above the wheel? I plan
to make my own jack point but not sure what size clamp to buy.
Thanks
Shirley Harding

Shirley,
The diameter of the lower gear leg on my RV-6 is 7/8", I only know this because
I manufactured my own gear leg fairings.
As far as clamps go, you need an exhaust pipe clamp. The smallest clamp that seems
to be commonly available is 1 1/8" but this works just fine. It is sturdy
enough and the nuts can be nipped down pretty hard and gives a secure jack point.
For me this is not a permanent fixture, I fit & remove the clamp when required.
Regards,
Doug
