What size is the clamp in the Vans gear leg jack point kit? Or to put it another way, what's the diameter of the RV6 gear leg above the wheel? I plan to make my own jack point but not sure what size clamp to buy. Thanks Shirley Harding RV6 flying

Shirley, The diameter of the lower gear leg on my RV-6 is 7/8", I only know this because I manufactured my own gear leg fairings. As far as clamps go, you need an exhaust pipe clamp. The smallest clamp that seems to be commonly available is 1 1/8" but this works just fine. It is sturdy enough and the nuts can be nipped down pretty hard and gives a secure jack point. For me this is not a permanent fixture, I fit & remove the clamp when required.
