---------------------------------------------------------- RV-List Digest Archive --- Total Messages Posted Mon 01/20/20: 1 ---------------------------------------------------------- Today's Message Index: ---------------------- 1. 07:35 AM - Step Replacement (Reuven Silberman) ________________________________ Message 1 _____________________________________ Time: 07:35:07 AM PST US From: Reuven Silberman Subject: RV-List: Step Replacement Just wanted to give the group a heads up about the step replacement.=C2- A little over 1,000 hours on my 7A and both steps are cracked!.=C2- Why t hey crack at the back of the step riser is baffling to me, I would have tho ught that the weld would have cracked as it bears the brunt of the weight a nd shock of getting in and out.=C2- What the heads up is all about is tha t while fitting the new Vans replacement steps the flat plate part did not fit flush with the fuselage like the original ones did. After a day of fuss in and cussin I had a BFO (Bright Flash of the Obvious) and measured the ro und tube part.=C2- The original is 9 3/4" long measured along the top. Th e=C2- Vans replacement step tube is 10".=C2- There was my 1/4 gap !!!! =C2- I had to cut 1/4" off the tube to make it fit.=C2- Where is the Va ns QC?
