Change tires and tubes in a clean area of your hangar, so grit and metal chips won =99t get trapped between tire carcass and tube. Baby powder contains oi ls that will attack your tubes, Brown Aircraft EC880 silicone powder is a b etter choice. Reinstall valve cap right after inflating, so grit doesn =99t get into valve causing leaks. New molded seals 154-13000 are super ior to oiled felt washers used on common 5=9D wheels in keeping grit out of bearings. Upgrade Nitrile caliper piston O-rings to Viton or Fluoro silicone for high temperature resistance to compression set. Modern wheel weights are no longer Lead, they are Steel or Zinc and a lot more are neede d to balance. MIL-H-5606 fluid has been superseded by fully compatible far less flammable MIL-PRF-87257 fluid. Mobil SHC100 is the Parker Hannifin p referred bearing grease. Use high temperature ceramic grease on anchor pin s going into torque plate. > > Gary VanRemortel N1GV > ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 06:58:27 PM PST US From: RV6 Flyer Subject: Re: RV-List: Additions to Vic Syracuse's Sport Aviation article this month Where can we get a good price on that 154-13000 seal? They are over $50 ea ch everywhere I looked. Has anyone found a NAPA or other non-aircraft part number that we EXPERIMENTAL type can use? Gary A. Worst case, you waste a phone call. https://www.yellowpages.com/memphis-tn/mip/linda-lou-inc-9483929 (no website) Charlie -- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 07:19:48 PM PST US From: Gary VanRemortel Subject: Re: RV-List: Additions to Vic Syracuse's Sport Aviation article this month I replaced them just on the nosewheel last condition inspection and at the time was unable to find a cross or a discounted price. Maybe one of the EAA chapters near Parker Hannifin Avon, OH could arrange a bulk buy BOGO. They are really nice. -GV On Wed, Feb 3, 2021 at 7:02 PM RV6 Flyer wrote: > Where can we get a good price on that 154-13000 seal? They are over $50 > each everywhere I looked.
