Been using Viton on the calipers for 10+ years. They last longer than the mil spec o-rings. They are higher temperature rated BUT the down side is t hey can leak and not seal as well as lower temperatures. I typically do no t operate my RV at the lower temperature so it is not a big deal for me. https://o-ring.info/en/materials/vitonr--fkm/vitonr-temperature-rating/ https://www.sealingdevices.com/temperature-ranges Gary A. I replaced the stock break seals on my RV10 with viton seals after they fail ed due to a long taxi at KOSH one year. Never a problem after that. Also u sed ATF for fluid due to higher flash point. Very little reciprocation occurs in disk brake caliper piston. I replaced the original leaking Nitrile O-rings in mine with Viton 15 yrs ago and haven't had a problem since. If you are concerned with the poor low temp performance of Viton in your climate, go with Fluorosilicone. -GV On Thu, Feb 4, 2021 at 12:32 AM GLEN MATEJCEK <fly4grins@gmail.com> wrote: > > > Viton seals >> > Hi All- I was under the impression viton was not good for reciprocating > applications, like brake pucks.
