Subject: | Lycoming SB-582A and SB-582A-S1 (AKA Precision Airmotive MSA-13) |
If anyone has not complied with the above bulletins, I would advise you to
do so ASAP.
The float in my circa 1997 A10-3878 Marvel Carb float did not sink, but the
needle valve plunger dug a hole almost halfway through the adjustment tab
on the 30-764 float. The float was barely shutting the valve when the
float hit the gasket. The float to gasket distance when closed should be
.200" (13/64"). The replacement float for this carb is 30-862.
Early indications of this problem are engine flooding during closed
throttle.
