I'd probably go with a thin layer of primer, if=0A that much. I did use primer on all of my parts, when I built the=0ARV-6A ; and, I've not seen any signs of rivet movement from that. By=0Athe tim e I started building a RV-7A for myself, I pretty much did away=0Awith u sing primer on everything. I sold the -7A before I finished it=0Aand can 't say if my changes made a difference. The -6A is plenty old=0Aenough t o have things show up, though. It's been flying for almost 23=0Ayears. =0A-----------------------------------------=0AFrom: recapen@earthlink. net=0ATo: rv-list@matronics.com=0ACc: =0ASent: Monday November 28 2022 2 :53:35PM=0ASubject: RV-List: Removing paint before new rivets=0A=0AQu estion for the groups =0A=0AIs it necessary to remove paint from a skin that you are going to=0Arivet into? =0A=0AMy line of thi nking is that the paint could come out from under the=0Arivet after the change =93 reducing (removing) the clamping action=0Athat the riv et had. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Other Matronics Email List Services ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Post A New Message rv-list@matronics.com UN/SUBSCRIBE http://www.matronics.com/subscription List FAQ http://www.matronics.com/FAQ/RV-List.htm Web Forum Interface To Lists http://forums.matronics.com Matronics List Wiki http://wiki.matronics.com Full Archive Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search 7-Day List Browse http://www.matronics.com/browse/rv-list Browse Digests http://www.matronics.com/digest/rv-list Browse Other Lists http://www.matronics.com/browse Live Online Chat! http://www.matronics.com/chat Archive Downloading http://www.matronics.com/archives Photo Share http://www.matronics.com/photoshare Other Email Lists http://www.matronics.com/emaillists Contributions http://www.matronics.com/contribution ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- These Email List Services are sponsored solely by Matronics and through the generous Contributions of its members.
