I welcome any thoughts on the topics listed. Pete ----- Original Message ----- From: Noodles Subject: RV-10 Questions Hello! I had a great Oshkosh.....please give my best to Tom; and especially to Cindy, who took extra time with my wife talking about being married to an 'airplane bum'. Her thoughts were most helpful in helping my wife to 'allow' me to order a tail kit. Oh yes, and the real clincher came from an RV-8 Builder who pointed out that she would be able take out the back seat and put 2 golf bags and luggage in the 10. That sold her for sure! Before I order the tail kit, I have several questions: 1) I plan to haul my kids on almost every flight..... 1A) I need back seat cooling big time! Will the fiberglass roof shell allow for the addition of a colling duct with an external scoop similar to on a Bonanza? Would there be an engineering reason that this could not be done...i.e. too big a drag penalty? I already have a scoop design with a drain tube through the lower fuselage in mind. If you have thoughts, I'd love to discuss it.....better yet, I'd love for you to DESIGN it! How could it be fastened to the roof? 1B) If roof duct is not practical, where could additional vents be place for the back seat? 1C)Could such a duct also support a drop down DVD screen, similar to my mini-van? Do you think there is room? Would the Roof shell support the weight? 1D) Also, I'd like to put reading lights there as well. Do you forsee any issues with getting wiring to the roof area? 1E) Since I will be hauling children on a regular basis, would it be possible to have the rear seat back recline a bit? 2) We live in Iowa. In addition to cooling, we'll need back seat heat. It has been my experience that back seat passengers are always cold. 2A) Is there enough room in the channel between the seats to carry a scat tube for heat....or is there a way to place an electric heater for back seat use. A removable one would be ideal, so I could remove the weight penalty during the summer months. 3) Several builders have made long baggage areas into the tail cone to haul ski's, fishing rods, etc. I love the idea, but am worried about the aft CG calculations. 3A) I realize this is not part of the design, but I don't want to build something without factory support. Is this an option that you could see offering in the future? 3B) Do you have any thoughts on the subject? I realize that I am trying to fit an awful lot into the plane...and weight for extra goodies will be a factor.....but the more I build this for 'family", the more willing they will be to "get in and GO!". I appreciate your thoughts? Perhaps other builders have the same questions...and discussions like these could be put in the next RVator! I'd love to hear what others have to say on this subject! Thanks! Expect my tail kit order in the next 2 weeks!
