We have just moved to Vancouver (Canada) from the United Kingdom where the building of 4 seat kits is very much more restricted. The RV 10 looks a great design, but being a fairly low time pilot (100 hours) I wondered whether such a high performance aircraft might be a bit of the challenge for my ability, and something like the Zenith CH640 be more appropriate, and I must admit I haven't looked into the insurance costs yet! Most of my time so far has been spent in low wing designs, mainly the Socata TB10 and some in the new Diamond Star DA40. I also wondered what's the grass field performance would be like for this RV, as I understand that the steel landing gear on other RVs can be rather unforgiving from ro atugh fields? Anyhow, our objective is to build a 4 seat aeroplane suitable for touring for myself, my wife and our two daughters (currently 7 and 9) had any feedback is welcome! We are keen to send off for the empennage kit, but I guess we need to look at all the options before committing ourselves to a major expenditure. Regards Dr Bernie Garrett Vancouver, BC

Hi,

I am new to the list and have been looking for a 4 seat metal kit for some time now.

I also wondered what's the grass field performance would be like for this RV, as I understand that the steel landing gear on other RV’s can be rather unforgiving from ro atugh fields?
