All,
I just bought a band saw after staring at the spar caps and wondering how I was
going to cut them. Of all the "nice to have tools", band saw is number 1. I
bought a 9" Delta table model, $99.00. Can't imagine building a 10 without it.
Thank You

Have finished my vertical stab, rudder & horizontal stab. Starting on the elevator.
So far this kit is awesome. The experience Van's Aircraft gained from
doing all those other kits really shows on this one. I have a band saw and pneumatic
rivet squeezer and couldn't imagine doing this without it.

Rick: Where did you get such a deal and where are you located. I'm hoping
to build one within the next few years [have a Grumman Tiger now] and would
like to see one coming together.

I'm using Cleaveland Tool's rivet squeezer. What a help!! I play the
guitar and realized after the first two days of building that I either
needed to get an air squeezer or choose between the guitar and the airplane.

I have a 3X rivet gun. I have air outlets all around the table with 90psi
and wanted to be able to run the rivet gun at about 40psi and adjust it
individually, so I hooked a quick release to a regulator, then to one of
Cleaveland Tools' lightweight pressure hoses, then to a volume
regulator/swivel, then to the gun. That way I can plug the gun in anywhere
without having to worry about whether I reset the pressure. The pressure
regulator seems to work well for setting the force of the gun and the volume
regulator on the swivel makes it easy for fine adjustments.

I got the same band saw. Found a $79.99 sale. Works great, doesn't it?
Have you been able to get the table exactly level?

You got a great buy. I bought mine on a Sunday afternoon, probably would have
paid a $1000 if I had to.
I haven't been concerned (yet) about the table being perfectly level. All cuts
are deburred and that helps to "straighten" the edges.
Thank You
