    Subject: Primer Question
--> RV10-List message posted by: Bill DeRouchey <billderou@yahoo.com> Hi everyone - I am "checking in". Received my RV-10 kit October 4 and just closed the horizontal stablizer last night. Currently pacing myself at 20 hours per week to maintain relationships so I won't be the first RV10 at Oskosh. This is the kit I have been waiting for and have not been disappointed. I can't imagine building before match hole technology was available and would like to thank those earlier RV-4 & RV-6 builders because they kept Vans in business. I am using Sherman/Williams "DTM Wash Primer" for the inner surfaces. It is a one part, water base primer that is easy and light and recommended for aluminum. Since most of the metal surface is already corrosion resistant Alclad I opted for additional corrosion insurance rather than a total solution as with two step primers. Has anyone has experience with this product or information about its effectiveness in salt air conditions? Bill billderou@yahoo.com ---------------------------------

--> RV10-List message posted by: "Conti, Rick" <rick.conti@BOEING.COM> Bill, I'll be closing up my horizontal stab tonight. I'm using Akzo 2 part epoxy primer on my RV-10. Lots of discussion on primers. I based on my decision on the fact water based primers actually hold moisture. The Akzo is used by Boeing. What are your plans for external lighting? Thank You Rick Conti The Boeing Company rick.conti@boeing.com office: 703 - 872 - 4602 cell: 703 - 472 - 8592 If you're looking for a cute saying....fuhgeddaboudit -----Original Message----- From: Bill DeRouchey [mailto:billderou@yahoo.com] Subject: RV10-List: Primer Question --> RV10-List message posted by: Bill DeRouchey <billderou@yahoo.com> Hi everyone - I am "checking in". --> RV10-List message posted by: "Scott Schmidt" <sschmidt@USSynthetic.com> I am using the Sherwin Williams 988 self etching primer. I talked to a whole group of builders at Hook's Airport in Houston where corrosion is a problem and this is what all of them use.
