I plan on ordering the same system. I'd be interested to know if the strobe wiring
is 3 conductor shielded. Would you please let me know when you receive the
system? Off line would be fine also at: rick.conti@boeing.com
Thank You

I ordered it though Van's. Scott at Van's confirmed that this was the correct
system to order. I know it's a little early, but I want to get the rudder completely
finished.

Did you order the System 6 from Whelen or Van's?

For lighting, I ordered the System 6 from Wheelen and I'm planning on using the
HID's for landing lights. I love the HID's on my car.

Bill,
I'll be closing up my horizontal stab tonight. I'm using Akzo 2 part epoxy primer
on my RV-10. Lots of discussion on primers. I based on my decision on the
fact water based primers actually hold moisture. The Akzo is used by Boeing.
What are your plans for external lighting?
Thank You

Hi everyone - I am "checking in".
Received my RV-10 kit October 4 and just closed the horizontal stablizer last night.
Currently pacing myself at 20 hours per week to maintain relationships so
I won't be the first RV10 at Oskosh.
This is the kit I have been waiting for and have not been disappointed. I can't
imagine building before match hole technology was available and would like to
thank those earlier RV-4 & RV-6 builders because they kept Vans in business.
I am using Sherman/Williams "DTM Wash Primer" for the inner surfaces. It is a one
part, water base primer that is easy and light and recommended for aluminum.
Since most of the metal surface is already corrosion resistant Alclad I opted
for additional corrosion insurance rather than a total
solution as with two step primers. Has anyone has experience with this
product or information about its effectiveness in salt air conditions?

My lighting decision will be to bypass the rudder installation and go with wing
tip only. This choice is colored from my experience with my Piper Archer. The
tail light has been a source of problems over the years and the strobes provide
a wonderful noise through the headsets letting me know they are working.
The tail light installation has had problems with:
1) breaking the wire at the bending intersection
2) poor ground due to corrosion
3) need a ladder to change the bulb (not a problem with the RV-10)
This will eliminate a wire run, keep the tail area quiet for the NAV whiskers,
and provide a white light backup (better than nothing).
I am dithering over a single power supply or one at each wing tip. Has anyone grinded
through the logic on this decision?
Bill

O.K., I thought I would stir up some controversy with my first post. Is anybody
else considering putting a Mazda 20B on there R.V.10. I know this is blasphemy,
but the history and performance of the 13B crowd is beginning to get my attention.
I have successfully used auto-gas in my 182 for many years and have about
600 or so hours using auto-gas on a Grumman cheetah prior to that. I want
to use an engine that burns auto-gas. The 0-540 low compression engine I believe
is 235 HP. The 20B is supposed to deliver about 270 HP using auto-gas. Let
the fireworks begin. Thanks David.

David,
Check out www.eggenfellneraircraft.com,
contact Jan Eggenfellner --- there may likely be a 6 cyclinder Subaru auto
engine conversion with Supercharger available sometime next year with
estimate of 250 hp.
Frank, N529ST reserved, considering RV-10
