How did you test your tanks? -------------------------- Sent from my BlackBerry Wireless Handheld -----Original Message----- From: Mark Chamberlain <10flyer@verizon.net> Subject: Re: RV10-List: Fuel Tanks & Ribs --> RV10-List message posted by: "Mark Chamberlain" <10flyer@verizon.net> Hi Rick, I finished my 10 tanks a few weeks ago and I know how you feel. It's even worse when you have proseal added to the equation isn't it! I lifted my skins out of the cradle a bit, shoved the rib as tightly as i could into the leading edge portion and then pushed the skin back into the cradle to wedge it temporarily in position. Then i clecoed from the trailing edge forward and it seemed to pull them into alignment. I also found it easier to clecoe the top skin/rib first since it has more curvature, then the bottom. Hope this helps, don't hesitate to hollar if you have questions about leak checking. I'm no expert , but i think mine came out pretty good. ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 09:48:00 AM PST US Subject: RV10-List: Fuel Tanks From: "Conti, Rick" --> RV10-List message posted by: "Conti, Rick" Below is a copy of the email I sent to Van's this afternoon. Any comments? Instructions state to machine countersink the tank skin to the baffle. I realize the skin is .032, but during a few practice machine CSKs I noticed the hole became much larger when the CSK hole accepted a rivet. It also was oversized even before the rivet was fully counter sunk. Is this to be expected? Thank You Rick Conti The Boeing Company office: 703 - 872 - 4602 cell: 703 - 472 - 8592
