(That's reasonable compared to what a lot of the market tries to sell them for, not for what we might think of as 'reasonable'). ------------------------------------------ Dave Smith http://www.rv10project.net -----Original Message----- From: owner-rv10-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-rv10-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Conti, Rick Subject: RV10-List: Heated Pitot --> RV10-List message posted by: "Conti, Rick" All, Does anyone have a recommendation for a heated pitot tube? I just bought one through a dealer in Chicago. I bought the "AN5812 PITOT TUBE". You can view it at Aircraft Spruce. In the past six months the prices have gone from $250 - $350 to $1000 - $1200. I was lucky and found one for $275. I wanted the static port on it as well but couldn't find it. So I will just add a second static port on the plane. I don't know why they jumped in price so much, it's just crazy. I'm thinking about getting into this business!! Gretz Aero makes the adapter kits for the RV. I will actually start installing the pitot tube this week. I just finished the fuel tanks last night. I am so glad to be done with that. It isn't hard, it just takes a lot of time and is messy. I have seen that Dynon now offers a heated pitot tube for $299 but I don't know if it only works with their system. I called Van's and asked them about heated pitot tubes and they talked to me like I was crazy to even think about it. Oh well, I think they look a lot nicer than just a bent piece of 1/4" tubing.
