Anybody have a good way to remove the expansion plug in the crankshaft (IO-540) for constant speed operation.

Subject: Video of the first RV-10 Flying - Congrats
--> RV10-List message posted by: Tim Olson <Tim@MyRV10.com> I just saw the video of John Nyes flying the first flight in a Customer built RV-10. The video is at: http://www.vansairforce.com/video/RV10_JohnNyes.wmv It's very cool that he got his flight in, complete with a High Speed pass....you gotta love those. I can't wait to hear his review some day as to how it all flew and felt. John deserves a lot of credit for being able to get his plane flying in such a short timespan. I don't know his builder number, but it must be a very low one. I gotta feel for Randy and Doug P. I know they were both scrambling to be the first, but, John made the flight and he deserves the congrats from us all. Randy, if it makes you feel any better, you will still be the first RV-10 flying "finished", as you'll probably be the first one flying your RV-10 complete with it's full interior, and painted airframe. ;) What a nice benefit of the day and age we live in that we can also view the video of the first flight, the same day or day after it happens. As more of you finish your planes, feel free to send me your videos and I'll get them posted for others to see. Congrats John, many happy flights to you! My turn's a while away yet. --> RV10-List message posted by: "Mani Ravee" <maniravee@sbcglobal.net> That is the coolest thing I have seen in awhile. I can not even imagine what it would be like when it comes my time. I am so glad to see that the take off and the landing were uneventful and both pilot and plane are safe. Sure Tim, I would almost give an arm and a leg to hear what his words were after he landed. And Randy, we are eagerly waiting for yours. Please be very careful. Mani Ravee, MD Indianapolis, KUMP #40339. Subject: RE: Wing Root Connector
Stein, Ive finally got a moment to fully respond to your message on the wing root connector diagram. Firstly, thanks for the comments since this is still a work in progress and do appreciate any comments on the subject. On the subject of multiple grounds, Im still on the fence on this one. On one hand, I have firsthand experience of poor ground connections and wanted to ensure that each device is properly and discretely grounded. I may revert to less or a single ground but I have some time yet to decide. I will have wing root connectors for the strobes, antennas, as well as the CPC connector. The antenna and power wires will be in the conduit and the high voltage strobe wires will run in a separate hole away from the antenna coax. While you may not prefer the CPC or any connector at the wing root, their use, at least to me, simplifies things. When Im done with the wing, it will be ENTIRELY done. No 90% done and 90% to go spending hours splicing cable at the airport. And while I do not plan to regularly take the wings off, it will be a comfort to know that when I have to re-attach them, I will not have to do the wiring all over again. Oh, and I think 13 amps is plenty good for anything I plan to put in the wings. William #40237

And Tim, if I'm lucky enough to get word of his first flight, I'll be there with my camera! You'll hopefully get a few videos to pick from to throw on your website. Exciting days! Congratulations John! Shoot, he's probably got half his hours flown off by now! Bruce Breckenridge 40018 Clackamas, OR Do not archive
