Subject: | Why Do I Have A Fund Raiser Each Year? |
--> RV10-List message posted by: Matt Dralle <dralle@matronics.com>
Dear Listers,
I was thinking that perhaps I should explain why I have a Fund Raiser
and also take the opportunity to express why I think the List
Services here provide a better experience than the commercial equivalents.
I use the List Fund Raiser each year to offset the costs involved
with running a high performance email list site such as this
one. With the annual support from the List members through the
PBS-like Fund Raiser, I have found I can run the entire site without
having to inflect any of the members with those annoying banner ads
flashing up all the time trying to sell Toner Cartridge Refills or
other garbage nobody wants or needs. From the comments I've received
over the years regarding the Lists, the great majority of the members
really appreciate the non-commercialism of my List systems and don't
mind my 'go-team-go' banter once a year to encourage members to
support the Lists.
I believe that the Lists services that I provide here offer many
benefits over the commercial equivalents in a number of ways. The
first feature I believe to be particularly significant is that you
cannot receive a computer v*rus from any of these Lists
directly. I've been on a few other List servers and have been
unfortunate enough to download infected files people have innocently
or not-so-innocently included with their posts. This just can't
happen with the Matronics Lists; each incoming message is filtered
and dangerous attachments stripped off prior to posting. I provide a
Photo and File Share feature that allows members to share files and
bitmaps with other members and everyone can be assured that these
files will be prescanned for any sort of v*rus before they are
posted. Safe and simple. Also, with this photo and file sharing
technique, the Archives don't get loaded up with a huge amounts of
bitmap "data" that slows the Archive Search times.
Another feature of this system is the extensive List Archives that
are available for download, browsing, and searching. The Archives go
all the way back to the very beginning of each List and with the
super fast Search Engine, the huge size of the Archives is a
non-issue in quickly finding the data you're looking for. Another
feature of the Archives is that they have been primarily stripped of
all the useless email header garbage that seems to build up in a
typical email thread.
I've been running email Lists and services under the matronics.com
domain since about 1989 starting with RV-List and 30 guys I knew and
who where also building RVs. It has grown into well over 50
different aviation-related Email Lists and an associated web site
that receives over 17,000,000 hits each year!! Additionally, the
List email system forwards well over 32,000,000 (yes, that's 32
MILLION) email messages to subscribers each year! With all the
dot.bombs these days, I think there's a lot of value in supporting a
service that has gone the long haul and is still providing and
improving a high quality service all without any advertising budget!
I have to admit running these Lists is a labor of love and I hope it
shows in the quality of the experience that you receive when you get
a List Email Message, Search the Archives, or use the List
Browser. The Lists will be here for a long time to come. If you
just want to lurk a while for free, that's great and I encourage you
to do so. If you use, appreciate, and receive value from these
Lists, then please support them during the Annual List Fund Raiser!

Good morning Matt.
I'm a user of your (our list) for the last 3 months ,and I agree 100% with your
point of view regarding the utility of your site, its and other site name Barnstormers.com
who advertise free ad's,but ask later for a contribution,I never
put an ad in there,no because I do not want to expend money, but because sound
like kid in south america, when you park your car he aproch you a say for a small
tips he will look at your car,how you will not contribute ,did you imagine
your car bean watched for a kid you didn't tip?.
Any way my suggestion is ,put a picture of your self ,say Guys this is me ,the
guy helping you to build your dream, this is all the equipment I use to made this
happen(picture),set a small page with pictures of any one will like to show
the face to others, then we fill we talking to peopels ,not to the ether, and
say what is the minimun you need to run the place ,in that way the persons you
helping ,and who expend many thousands of dollars in stupid avionics because
is looking kool, will have not problems in the contribution.at least is my opinion.
The only thinks I complain of the internet is some times you thinks you dealing
with a single guy, who's dream is help others ,and in reality it is a multinational
with a new sale system.
If you are the first case ,god bless you.
and please say how much you need to help Us.
Thanks ,Hugo Terrosa

I have a new three blade electric constant-speed MT propeller for sale. Included
are the kevlar spinner assy., electronic controller, circuit breaker, and assembly
. The propeller model number is MTV-18-B/183-17. It was purchased new in
2002 and never used on our GlaStar project. We have decided to install an NSI
Subaru package which includes a CAP 200 propeller, so we have decided to sell
this very nice propeller. It is new and still in its original box. It fits
on an SAE #2 flange with 1/2 bolts (Lyc O-360, some O-320, and most Subaru propeller
reduction drive set-ups).
$7,000.

Subject: | Re: 4 point inertial reel harness for RV10 |
The website is not yet complete; however we do have some pictures available on line at www.inertialbelts.com. The AMSAFE belts come in additional colors but they have not been added yet. My son does my computer work gratis so putting up a proper website will be on his schedule. documented procedures exist for creating the hardpoints which can be done before (preferred) or after the lid is installed. The pictures show the approach to preparing the lid. There are two sizes regular and large. The large will provide an additional 6 inch adjustment each side of the lap belt. regular belts will fit all sizes in the rear. Prices are $275 each for two or less ; $250 each for more than two. My experience so far indicates that about two weeks are required from order to delivery. email me off list or 480-832-5295.

Are you really sure you want to put the NSI system on your plane? Now that
they are out of business, what kind of support are you going to get?

Hi Michael
Thanks for your concern. You are right that NSI is out of business, but the company
has been restructured, re-named, and has new management that is gong hells
bells to turn around the mess left behind by Lance Wheeler and his clan. Maxwell
Propulsion will soon rise out of the hole and should be offering engine and
propeller packages by the end of Jan. or early Feb. The company is now headed
by a fellow GlaStar builder and NSI customer by the name of LeGrande Harris
who is a very intelligent and business savvy professional who came out of retirement
to take on the endeavor. He has hired a very skilled team of professional
personnel who are all as honest and hard working as the day is long. Look
for good things to come forth out of MPS in the not too distant future!
Best Regards,
Stan Bearup
