Speaking of getting there, anybody know how late OSH will accept arrivals this
evening? Looks like the NOTAM procedures don't go live till 6:00 am tomorrow,
and rather than filing IFR tomorrow morning through some slop in KY and IL, I
could probably get there VFR from TN later today.

Dan I'd expect if the NOTAM is not in effect then it's as published...check
their listing in the AFD or other sources...I'd expect the tower to be in
operation as usual then it's as listed for the field.

When fitting the lower rudder fairing, with the tail strobe installed, where have
most of you run the wire through the Aft bulkheads of the tailcone? Didn't
know if any of the later plan sections tell you where, or if any of the engineers
out there figured where the least stress on the structure would be to drill
the hole. Thanks.

FYI:
On the OSH list, I just posted some links to the vendor booth maps
for all hangers A-D, and the area around aeroshell square. In
addition, I compiled the vendor list from the multiple pages on the
EAA site and trimmed the fat and shrunk them into one single big page.
This may allow you a good way to search and find vendors using
a PDA or tablet on site. The booth maps are in .pdf format. The
list is html.
Check the OSH lists for the links:

Sorry, no webcam but here are a couple of still shots. First one is of our our
sites. From right to left: my motorhome, Tim's site with a canopy set up for
additional shade, and Gary's motorhome with Gary in front of it. We would have
shown a mountain of beer cans but it's not even 10:00 AM yet...
Second shot is our sign at the intersection of Lindbergh and 57th.

If you pull up the Wiring Harness instructions from Tim's secure Builder's
page, they say to drill the hole right below the bottom hinge bracket, right
through the top of the tie-down support, if I am not mistaken. That's where
we did it and it seems to work great.

I read something that I believe was from Van's that they drill the hole off
of centerline so you'd miss the aft tiedown. This way if you ever have to
get back inside the aft tailcone you don't have to drill the tiedown out as
well to replace parts.

I can't answer definitively for OSH, but on this side of the state
we've been so dry that they are almost non-existant. I haven't
been bitten in weeks, and I haven't had to mow the yard for
well over a month. There are positive sides to the drought.

Subject: | Oshkosh Engine Specials- Mistral Engines |
For those at Airventure- need someone (preferably knowledgeable in
rotoary's) to do me a favor and go to the Mistral engine booth (North

what you think of the G300 and what they are asking for the engine.
I haven't even started building but I am planning financially (once I
start building I don't have time to research the differences nor all the
engines in as much detail- while I wait I research everything to
death!while I build I fine tune based on the research)
Next year I'll probably be out at Oshkosh going broke saving money on

I'd assume it doesn't really matter. Can't the cosmo be just as happy
burning 100LL as MoGas? I'd think the same is true of the Subie, but
perhaps I'm wrong. One of the advantages, at least as I see it, to the
low compression lycosaurs (ie - the 235HP B4B5) is the ability to burn
MoGas or 100LL or any combination inbetween.

I'm working on the fuselage side skins and it says to enlarge the wire run
hole to the wings and install grommets that can be purchased from Van's, but
are not included in the kit. This is section 29-15.
Can anyone make a recommendation what size hole and grommet part number
works for this? I plan on installing Duckworks, Archers, LED indicators,
strobes, etc. Basically the works. Do I run all electrical, coax, pitot,
etc. through this hole?
Thanks and have fun in OSH everyone.
