--> RV10-List message posted by: "Russell Daves" <dav1111@cox.net> I am using the GP301-12 pre-oiler from Infinity Aerospace ($230.00 plus shipping). http://www.infinityaerospace.com/ I obtained the check valve from a local plumbing supply house (don't get the flapper type) and the hoses were made locally. I mounted the pre-oiler on the right side firewall down low and ran the inlet line from an extra sump plug and the outlet line up to the ECI 90 degree adapter drain plug 1/4" even with the reduced line flow the pre-oiler works great. I also trimed the baffles on one and two.It helped quite a bit they still run a little hotter than I would like and I adjust climbout accordingly.I ordered a Sam James plenum and will report the results. When OAT"s are in the 90"s #1 will hit 425 at a climbout of 120kts.Also Alex De dominicis developed louvres which he reports lowers chts quite a bit.

With clear blue skies and a 5 knot breeze test pilot Pip Boorman conducted the first flight of my RV10 at Bendigo Australia . Last checks on the plane found a broken Alternator belt as the alternator pulley had come adrift, and slight fouling of the governor cable on the top cowl. After a high speed taxi run the plane departed in a very short distance for a uneventful flight problems noted were that the trim could be faster (matronics governor to have its speed increased) and a little bit left wing heavy. Pips comments on the ground were that the design was a credit and to plan at 185 knots. Neville Boyle VHNVL 2.8hours do not archive

Congratulations! 2 first flights in as many days, the numbers are going exponential. I hope you get to fly yourself very soon and reward yourself for all the hard work. One note I meant to pass on about my machine, I don't have the governor on the pitch trim and wouldn't want it to move any slower. It seems just about right so I'm not going to bother with the governor others have discussed. Here are some pictures from N585MR before and after the initial voyage yesterday. No true RV-Grin shots, but I assure you it was there! I put another 1.5 on it today and all is going great. I got the pictures as small as possible, my apologizes if the e-mail is still a little large. Regarding the high #1 CHT, I swapped the #1 and 3 CHT probes and it turns out the sender must be a little off as it still showed #1 to be a little hotter than the rest. I also trimmed the baffle slightly, climbed out faster and all is good on the CHT gauge. One lesson learned from yesterday was I have 3 EFIS displays, a great Garmin stack and all I could find was the airspeed indication! New panel, new instrument crosscheck. Today went much better although the Dynon hung up at 60 degrees of bank and never fully recovered. I have not installed the updated software (firmware?) so hopefully that will help. I was able to take the time to work the avionics much more effectively, even listened to some tunes briefly. Great machine, can't wait to fly it again. Marcus 40286 do not archive

Great news. Congratulations! On the CHT, I was going to suggest swapping the probes. It=92s always best to make sure you truly have a problem before solving it. Keep us posted on this, as we have not seen this problem at all with the air ramps. Hey, X35 is almost inside you test flying area, isn=92t it (wink wink, nudge nudge). Keep it going. Do not archive. I guess with all the success stories showing up about trimming the baffles ...... go ahead and trim. If you're still having high temps, take a look down through the fins around the spark plug .....some cylinders have flashing that closes off the air passage. A drop light in the lower cowl will help a lot. Patience and a jewelers file will open them up, although I've seen some flashing so thick that a drill bit was used.
