I have 3 on order, the first dating to early '06 (you beat me, Tim). They
were literally quoting 2 weeks at Sun-N-Fun, and they still say something
like, "hopefully soon." From a company as good as TruTrak, (rest of
sentence omitted because they monitor this list). They think they will
make more money on their EFIS, so they completely put the 2" ADI on the
back burner to push their other products to production, all promises
aside. They are a fantastic company overall, but this certainly does mar
their record, IMHO. As Tim said, it will most certainly ship by October.
Which one is the $64,000 question!
Andrew, how many do you all have on order and how many planes are actually
flying with a hole in their panels waiting for it? Please update us on
the status.

It snowed in Orlando at XMAS, and we did not see them ship, so maybe it
is when pigs fly? We should contact the dog from Bush's baked beans,
maybe he will rent out his pig to us?

According to TT at Sun n Fun, they were supposed to start shipping at the end of
April. I have the Baked Bean recipe, only cost me a Nylabone and a box of Beggin
Strips, Rusty is a push over for those.
For now I'm stuck with the turn and bank, but then I won't REALLY need mine till
early fall.

First I can say I am not on any wait list for the product in question so I'm
only speaking to what has been said around this list and others. Probably the
biggest thing to hurt any business is making delivery and product promises that
they can't keep, especially repeatedly. The only exceptions seems to be aviation
and Microsoft. I have no problem with waiting for a product as long as
the company doesn't blow smoke up my arse on a regular basis. Too many business
forget that a cornerstone of good business practices is customer relations.
A company like TT that has an excellent AP is riding on that when they miss
promised dates over and over again for other products. Eventually it will erode
away consumer confidence and someone will move in to take their place. I
remember seeing their EFIS at SWRFI over a year ago and being told it would be
ready around OSH 06.
Based on these previous comments (and personal experience with the servos taking
months after being paid for) I can say that I wouldn't order anything but
an AP at this point from TT.
Hey Jesse, why do you have three on order?

remember if I have any standard build lists. If someone

it to me at 715-858-1681 and it'll make a multi-page .tif
and I can put one up there.

Hey Deems -
Howzit going? I'm getting back in the swing of things after my surgery,
and trying to get a move on with this fiberglass junk. I did have a
specific question for you though...
Does the OP tech unit use the Freeflight GPS exclusively? Are you
waiting for a resolution there? I'm still smarting a bit from that
stuff. After all the D2A fiasco, the Freeflight VFR ONLY thing was just
a slap right in the face. I spoke with them after I figured out that my
cool remote mount GPS unit makes a nicer paperweight than it does an IFR
GPS, and they said that their new unit would be forthcoming. Whatever
that means. What's your status with respect to the GPS piece of your
avionics puzzle? Inquiring minds want to know!
Also, those door latch thingys are cool lookin! And timely! Any news
on when they'll be available? And what about the handle part? I could
try to build them myself on my mill, but I'm finding that I have a new
respect for CNC operations, and I'm limiting myself to only building
stuff that doesn't exist yet! Just adding weeks and months to my build!
I did put up some pics of the CNC stuff. It's here:
http://www.perfectlygoodairplane.net/Perfectlygoodairplane/CNC%20Desktop
%20Mill.html
hope all is going well out there! I can't wait for you to run out of
parts already! Cause you know what happens then!

CJ, and anyone else that's interested.....
The OP tech will take input from ANY GPS that can supply it on an RS 232
feed. I also allows for multiple GPS inputs, Each OP Tech display also
comes with it's own built in GPS, the Crossbow AHRS has it's WAAS
'enabled' GPS, and I'm installing the Freeflight Certified WAAS GPS
sensor. (total of 4 hard mounted gps receivers on board) You can select
from the MFD/PFD which GPS you want to be active. The only somewhat
limiting factor is that each GPS needs it's own antenna, and I don't'
really want 4 GPS antennas mounted. I'll use the Freeflight as the
primary and the Crossbow as the backup.
Re Freeflight, - after a long silence while they were undergoing
recertification. they finally said in Feb, they would have Certified
units avail in May. And low and behold, I got a call from Op Tech, May 2
asking me if I still wanted the Freeflight, it arrived 2 day's later!!
(Tru Trak, take notice!!!!!!!). You should not have a problem ordering
and obtaining one in short order.
Caution: the re certified Freeflight cost more than the old certified
sensor.
Re latch's Per recent post from Zack (Dave's Uncle), Dave has now
incorporated the magnet into the 'bullet' enabling the use of Van's door
ajar sensor mod. I have no knowledge of the door handle, as I went
another direction.
Your CNC stuff looks way cool, from an ex-nerd I could see myself tying
up 100's of hours in something like that, better you than me!!!

What's up with that? I can see the Nav head technology churning, but

Jay,
I would suggest working this through with someone like Stein who specializes
in avionics rather than Van's. Van's sells accessories more as a convenience
than their core business and you are likely to have more options with an avionics
shop.

What's up with that? I can see the Nav head technology churning, but
significant changes to servo electronics seem a bit surprising. Am I missing
something? How many -10 builders are in the same boat?

P.S. I was able to purchase a TT pitch servo through my new best friends in
Farmington. :-)

I talked to Stein this afternoon about this as I also saw Jay's posting. He can
take care of us as I am about to order my wing servo this next week. The problem
is a function of how much a vendor can support a specific aspect of our
favorite addiction.. [Laughing] Van's builds the best kits, they don't build
panels.

I am at the point where I am start to install some of my gas line fittings. Since
using teflon tape is a no-no, what are people using on the pipe fitting side?
Anything?
When I pressure tested my fuel tanks the only leak I had was the AN816 on the pipe
thread side where it screws into the tank.
Need to get it right the first time. I don't want to find any fitting leaks after
I have things buttoned up. [Shocked]

IMHO, teflon tape is a no-no if you use it like taping a valuable
package. Take your time and don't get any tape on the first one or two
threads. Y'all can flame away. I have a thinck skin!!!

Well, if you still don't like the tape, you can go the liquid teflon
route .... same caveat on the threads applys.

OK I spent half an hour looking through the wish book and couldn't find it so I
posted the message here. :(
Their index is all messed up but I finally found it on page 355. I have it circled
in red now.
Thanks

No flame intended BUT having been a plumber A/C contractor for 20 plus years I
have seen teflon tape installed properly & when the joint was taken apart & re-assembled
a string if it was cut off by the threads, left inside the female side
and pushed into the pipe during re-assembly. It WILL plug orfaces on gas lines,
filter & injectors. It's a little like sex, there's the "safe" way, the
better way BUT there is ONLY one for sure way. Don't put "stuff" in, on or around
the openning. PERIOD That's why they make & sell fuel lube. KABONG HRII
