Oh man! I flew over Chino on Saturday afternoon and stopped in for a few
laps in the pattern. If only I had gone on Sunday instead! Boy would that
have been a great surprise! I would have loved to see that.

I know John and spoke with him. He had a great flight and Dave flew chase.
--------------
Congratulations to John Rost for making the first flight of his RV-10 at
Chino Airport on Sunday afternoon, June 24, 2007.
The flight went off perfectly and John built a very nice airplane.
Congratulations John!

So far we've got some excited individuals in preparation for
OSH signed on with their 2007 OSH dates, and camping reservations.
Believe it or not, what started as something small last year
is up to 14 campsites reserved for this year. See
here: http://www.myrv10.com/osh/OSH_2007_RV10HQ.jpg
The builders list is being updated each day as I get time,
and if you have updates to your listing, just use the same
form here: http://www.myrv10.com/osh.html
If you're on the list already, this is the location for
those who forgot:
http://www.myrv10.com/builderslist
If you're not on it, you can view the public version that
is similar but without contact info, to protect those
builders from scammers and spammers.
http://www.myrv10.com/osh2
Keep the dates coming if you're interested, and if you want
to participate in the campsites, just get in touch with Bob.
I did spend time today looking for a good photo of OSH from
last year and I found this one, which I marked up with
some locations of various things:
http://www.myrv10.com/osh/1997_Aerial_View_Campsite.jpg
Hopefully this year we'll either be in the trees, or at
least very close to last year's campsites, as they were
very good for show accessibility.

I have about 15 hrs on my RV-10 so far and I am having a blast. However my
right calf muscle is getting worn out. What have RV-10 pilots been using
for the rudder trim? I am looking at the TT Yaw Damper and would like to
know if anyone has it installed and working? I am also looking at cheaper
suggestion, like the piece of wood that Van used on the prototype.
For those that have askeddetails are below.
611TT is equipped as follows, new TMX IO540 with one lightspeed, Hartzell 2
blade
2 GRT EFISs with EIS 6000, GNS480, GTX 330, GMA 340, TT RV-10 AP, Dash
mounted Garmin 396, Vans Airspeed, Alt and compass.
Preliminary numbers 170K TAS at 11.5K, 21/21, 9.5, ROP, still have a lot of
tweaking and adjusting to go so stay tunedalso I have very light plane at
the this point with no paint and interior, empty weight 1460lbs, flying at
about 2000lb.

Subject: | OSH 2007 and Camping update |
There are still a few "if's", but I plan to arrive on Sunday, the 22nd and
leave on Monday, the 30th. I'm not an RV 10 builder yet, and may never be,
but have been following this list for quite a while and wish I could be. A
careful evaluation of my anticipated mission has caused me to think that
a -9A is really the machine that I should build, but I'm still a fan of
the -10. I'd love to be in the area with other -10 builders, but need to be
in the pet area and in the 24 hr generator area. (I hope that there is an
intersection). We can't leave the puppies at home and Cecilia needs to be
able to keep her electric scooter charged (Of course the air conditioning
will be appreciated, too.)
If we make it this will be the first visit to Osh, and our longest stay in
the new travel trailer, so while we want to see as much as possible all
plans are tentative.
I am looking forward to meeting many of the posters to the -1o list, and Tim
in particular.

Since you're not painted yet, I'd recommend a rudder trim system.
Lots of options there on how to do it. Until then, a wooden block
would work good. 245 hours on my wooden block so far. Much better
than nothing.

Has anybody figured out how to implement a rudder trim tab that doesn't

After 16 hours to Baja and back my right calf was killing me. I purchased
the rudder trim block sold by Aircraft Spruce and installed it with double
sided tape used to install molding on autos. Works great - no more leg
cramps.
I agree with Tim if N410MR had not been painted I would have gone with the
electric trim system I've seen on the list.

It will vary from builder to builder. I'd guess mine is about 6" long.
(no jokes!) It's just a wooden slat, about 1/4" or 5/16" thick, cut
into a wedge by sanding it half way diagonally. It's on the left
side, just above the tail light a little ways. I have mine taped
on with semi-clear UHMW tape I had left over from doing the
flap/aileron protection from wing skin. Initially I taped it on with
aluminum tape until I got it sized right to center the ball. Then, I
painted the wedge to match and used that semi-clear tape so it blends
in well.

Deems,
There were some photo's a few months ago on one of the forums, but I
can't seem to find them now. It was a rudder trim that was built in
to the trailing edge of the rudder. It looked pretty nice. I seem to
remember the builder was in upstate NY, but I can't locate any
information at this time.

Subject: | Sec 28 Wing Spar Hardware |
Can anyone tell me where to find the washers called out on page 28-9,
for attaching the center section spars? I don't understand why the
hardware isn't even called out. i see them in the diagram, but no other
mention about this step, which seems like a critical step when dealing
with the wing attach hardware.
I have the bolts and nuts. however, i don't seem to have any washers
that will fit. No mention in the archives. It must be too obvious!
Thanks for the info!
