I went over to OSH via plane (made my wife/slave drive the car and trailer over) yesterday, so I'm officially a site-holder at OSH, along with Gary and Bob who were both there to greet me. The sites are awesome, just not as tightly grouped as we intended, but they're all pretty close together and should be very convenient for meeting up with people. I took some photos and got a larger printable map while I was there, so you can get your first taste of OSH 2007. Here are some links: Campsite photos http://www.myrv10.com/miscphotos/OSH2007/index.html Larger Scholler map (Print this and bring it along if you'd like) http://www.myrv10.com/osh/Scholler_OSH2007_RV10HQ.jpg Overhead Photo of the area http://www.myrv10.com/osh/2007_Aerial_View_Campsite.jpg Smaller RV-10 HQ map http://www.myrv10.com/osh/OSH_RV10_HQ_MAP_2007_A.jpg So now you have your first preliminary view of the show! -- Tim Olson - RV-10 N104CD - Flying do not archive

Jae, I think the last page in section 34 (baggage door) talks about installing f oam weather stripping for the door seal. The 1/16" is basically the same sp acing around the entire door, except the hinge side. One possible seal is a product referred to a wing saddle tape. It's availab le through RC hobby supply stores and is used to seal the engine exhaust re sidue out of the interior of RC airplanes. Basically it is very dense poly foam tape that comes in different thicknesses and has a self-sticking adhes ive on one side. This is not to be confused with servo tape that is sticky on both sides. I'm sure there are other seal options as well. I sent the pictures to Matt so that a photo share could be created, that way I am not forcing my pictures on anyone. If anyone wants them quicker than the photo share is available let me know and I will send them direct. If I get the 25 hrs. flown off (halfway there already) and get my -10 to OSH this coming weekend, I fully expect it will be the recipient of a few snooty remarks, since it is sort of a calico airplane now with the control surfaces that I painted, some rattle can gray on the fiberglass (over UV smooth prime), and even some AZKO green here and there. I am considering adding some Sharpie graffiti to it such as: "Next stop paint shop" "Why yes, as a matter of fact I'm not completely done with it yet" "Please, no rude remarks -- you'll hurt it's feelings" and the ever-popular "At least it is flying. Is yours?" -Dan Masys N104LD 12 hrs on the meter, flying before and after work every day. (Did my first aileron roll in it this morning. You are always welcome to park next to me and we will be the twins, mottled gray is a color right? I thought what I would do is put a sign out that says ran out of money during paint, will work for additional paint and fiberglass materials? Or maybe " This plane is best viewed from 10K feet while passing by at 200mph?" I really don't care because it is flying right? It is too funny that two Dans, make their first flights two days apart, hows that for synchronicity? I am about to rivet on my top wing skins and would like to know if anyone applied Proseal to the inboard / outboard wing skin joint to prevent moisture ingress as a result of capillary action? G'day all, I just took delivery of my IO540 (experimental) from Vans. On opening the box, the engine has been beautifully hermetically sealed and pickled for long term storage, there were boxes containg the injector, mounting ears and oil filter. But the documentation appeared to be very scarce. There does not appear to be a contents list. For those who have received similar engines, what docs did you receive and where were they hidden? Cheers, Ron

I used proseal for the bottom fuselage joint (under the spar) for the same reason. If you do use proseal make sure it is a very thin layer. G'day Ron, There should be a large envelope that has all of the installation instructions, relevant Service Bulletins, and some specific data for the test cell results of your particular engine. Contains a new engine logbook, and also a Lycoming 540 User instructions manual that is a small three ring binder. Mine also came with a couple of bags of installation hardware (nuts, bolts) and a spare oil filter fastened to the pallet. -Dan Masys N104LD half way to out of the phase I box. ---- "McGANN wrote: > > G'day all, > > I just took delivery of my IO540 (experimental) from Vans. You can also get the IO540 wide deck overhaul manual and parts guide and 3 years of updates from Lycoming for about $100. -----Original Message----- From: owner-rv10-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-rv10-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Dan Masys Sent: Wednesday, July 18, 2007 5:48 PM Subject: Re: RV10-List: Lyco Documentation G'day Ron, There should be a large envelope that has all of the installation instructions, relevant Service Bulletins, and some specific data for the test cell results of your particular engine. I would like to invite all RV-10 builders who are attending Oshkosh this year to see a new advanced electrical system architecture that we have been developing over the last couple of years. We will have an interactive display set up at Cleaveland Aircraft Tools' booth for the entire show this year. The overall system includes: An Electrical System Fuel Gauge (Tells you how many minutes of battery life you have left after losing an alternator) Alternator Over-Voltage Protection Solid State Switching (No Relays) Solid State Circuit Breakers (No Fuses or Mechanical Breakers) Low Voltage Warning No Voltage Transients During Starting (Go ahead and start with your electronics on) Electrical System Fault Detection and Warning System Usable Battery Power is Increased by 10% or More Smart Alternator Regulator that Increases Battery Life and Reduces Alternator Load Smart Alternator Protects Alternator from Over Temperature Supports Internally and Externally Regulated Alternators as well as Our Smart Regulator System Can be Scaled for the needs of Simple VFR to Complex IFR I will be at the show all week to introduce the system to you and to get your feedback. We are currently in the process of solidifying the design so your input and comments are greatly appreciated at this point. I will be spending some time at the "RV-10 HQ" so grab me and I'll tell you more about this very cool system. See you there. Dave Hertner #40164 Wiring the Wings
