I was wondering has anyone considered using an LS1 with PSRU? I am a looking

      Sean,

I spent a good long time looking at the LS1 and various PSRU packages
offered and have only found one that I liked. Bud Warren with Geared
Drives in Conroe Texas is the vendor that I have chosen.

Give me a call at the number I will send you directly if you would like
      to discuss this further.

      Deems,
You are correct, we recently added 35w and 50w 'Low Cost' replacement HID
      lights (see our 'Upgrades' page).
We have the MR-16 2" HID lights for the Tips in both wattages.
We also have GE-H3 style HID lights that are simple, direct replacements for
the Halogen bulbs in our lights.

These lights work very well, in fact Joe Blank just installed a couple in
his old RMD style wing tips using my PAR-36 Reflectors with the Low Cost 35W
HID. He reported back that he has now lifted his self-imposed 'ban' on
night landings at his home strip, since the 4" HID lights work so well.

Remember, if you want a 'long' beam that will light up the runway when you
turn final, a 4" light will outperform a 2" light, it's simple math.

But if you do have the MR-16 tip lights, the HID is far 'brighter', cooler,
uses less power, and doesn't burn out, making the HID version a great
      upgrade.

OH, and we have finally joined the modern world - we just enabled Credit
Card processing on our website, on the 'Upgrades' page initially.

Not quite the way it was when I had a gas station. I received my gas from
the distributor on consignment. I had the option of setting my pump prices
at what ever I chose, but when the distributor contacted me about a price
chance, I read the pumps, paid for the gas sold at the previous cost and we
split the change. (i. e. if the price went down $0.02, we each absorbed
$0.01, etc.) I did have a minimum margin, so if the price went too low, I
didn't loose all of my profit. In other words, I paid for the gas, in
arrears, at the distributor established price, and if I chose to accept a
different margin, could set the pump price at what ever level I chose, but
believe me, it was best for me to use the established price. And no, we
didn't sell beer or cigarettes (this was before the days of self service)
and we didn't make more than expenses on gas, but by giving good service we
made money on tires, batteries and accessories (and on oil changes, lube
      jobs and wash and wax).

      Things have changed!

The corner gas station situation is more complicated than limited storage.
In most brand name locations (I have very close ties to two Shell stations)
the station owners have zero say in fuel deliveries. All the handling,
receipt of payments, taxes, delivery schedules are handled by Shell. If the
owner thinks fuel is going to go up they cannot request additional fuel. The
Shell truck shows up when Shell decides to fuel them. Corporate is tied
electronically into the individual storage tanks and often the fueling truck
shows up with less than a 2 hour supply left in the tanks. Then they fill up
the tanks of capacity. >From my point of view the station owner gets the
short end of the stick at every turn. Recently they had back to back $0.10
increases, up $0.20 in 2 days followed by a $0.27 increase in diesel in one
day. Diesel is well into the mid $5.00s in CA.

The rule of thumb in gas station/convenience store ownership is you sell
the gas at no profit to entice the motorist into buy the cigarettes. You
sell the cigarettes at cost to drive beer sales. And you sell beer as a loss
leader to get people in to buy fuel.

Expect many gas stations to close in the next 5 years.

I also have a connection with a 400+ station owner consortium that is
involved in a class action suit claiming unfair business practices. Example
the fuel distributor also owns many of the stations in the area. Guess who
gets the lowest price fuel first and has advanced notice of fuel price
      changes?

Well Jesse, I might be able to explane. The gas stations pump a lot of
Gas, and have limited storage. The price should only change, when the tanks
are filled. The tankers can only carry 8,000 gallons a load. With todays
frequent fluctuation's, and high volume sales, that means every few days,
and in some cases every day, they receive a tanker load, and are subject to
      price change, up or down.
Now, back to airports, they sometimes have as much as half a million
gallon storage tanks, filled by barge, rail car, or pipeline. They fill
their tanks less frequently, so prices can be slower to change.
When you buy a load of fuel, as a dealer, you pay before the driver drops
his load in your tanks. Sometimes, an FBO will raise his price, before his
next load, just because he can.
It's a free market system, you can charge whatever you want.
I hope I didn't ramble to much, does this makes sense?

For what it's worth for you who have not begun the wonderful task of doing
the SB on the rear bulkhead, here's some data for you.

Started yesterday afternoon, worked all day today. 10.5 hrs so far with
about 2 hrs to go to finish.

This is with 2 people working dedicated full time, and assisted by 2 others
when it came time to pull the horizontals off with those blasted trim cables.

For those still building the horizontals, make the holes for the cables
bigger than the plans say in case you ever have to take the tail off......

Riveting the doublers in and re-doing the top plate.......we used hand
squeezers as well as 2 different jaw'd pneumatic squeezers plus rivet gun and

bucking bar to get to all of the required rivets.

Not a fun job at all.

No cracks in my bulkhead at 70 hrs prior to installing the doublers.

Not a fun or easy job. Find some extra hands to help - you'll need them.

Hey John, glad you got the SB going!

I just finished the SB today myself. Had me and 2 ladies
to do the work...they did most of it. We got the HS completely
off and ready to drill rivets in maybe 2-2.5 hours. Had the
doublers in place after lunch, the reassembly went fairly
well. I'll do a write-up on it. My reassembly was perhaps
longer than some peoples would be, due to some wiring related
things that I did in addition.

Total time was about 9.25 hours to complete the SB, and another
      .25 to test fly it.

This one will definitely have a write-up, although I didn't
take much for photos since there is already a great online
      photo display of it.

I agree, as far as the holes in the HS go, except I removed my
HS and Elevators/trim tabs as a unit, so I only had to pull the
      cables from the trim mechanism.

I did all of my rivets with a rivet gun, and it went real
      quick and easy.

I found no cracks in the bulkhead, by the way, at 349 hours.
And I've flown it hard enough shaking that tail with that
stall series I did video and photos of that I figure if I
don't have cracks, not many will. More on that later though.

The job goes fastest with at least 2 people. Having 3 there was
nice in that I was always able to work nonstop as they helped
with the peripheral tasks so I could plug away.

      Glad to be done!

No cracks at 40 hours, installed parts at paint shop just before
      paint. Whew!
