I haven't purchased my IFR GPS yet but would like to fashion a doubler plate
for the antenna. Does anyone have a detailed drawing of the antenna that
comes with the GNS430W unit?
I have the antenna that comes with the Apollo GX-65 GPS/COM. Are the
mounting holes the same? If I use that to drill my holes will the WAAS
antenna bolt up ok?
Thanks,
-Ben Westfall

The GPS antenna I received with my 430W was a GA35.
I have attached a copy of the installation sheet that came with the antenna. Hope
this helps.

Well I am at the Reno Air aces. I was talking to American Propeller / Eagle
Engines (They did the engine and prop for our Saratoga) They were
recommending the Whirlwind over the MT for the RV-10 due to the fact the
Whirlwind is all Carbon fiber composite prop not Wood/composite.
Has any one in the RV-10 world use or have a Whirlwind prop.
I would like to more info on this.
Thanks

Whirlwind customer service should be thoroughly researched before
spending the money. They would not repair a three blade Whirlwind
system that needed some attention. It was sold to a hobbyist to be
shortened and mounted on an airboat. Went with the MT 3 blade. Yes the
MT has a wood (dampening) core. Don't ask me how I know.
One of the big advantages of a composite vs. metal prop is the range of
repairs that an owner/mechanic can do and the extended life of the
product. American Propeller does some damned fine paint jobs on Aero
props. I can give you a dozen painted three blade composites and not
one will be a Whirlwind.
YMMV

There are a dozen testimonials lurking online. I count six with custom paint jobs
flying right now. My collection of painted and flying RV-10s is getting downright
exciting.

Les,
I looked but don=99t have a picture yet. I=99ll get one
the next time I get to the hangar, unfortunately it may be awhile.
I put my switches on the fixed bar below the panel. To the right of the
pitot heat switch I drilled 3 holes vertically to match the lights as
they are mounted on the circuit board. The lights just push though the
panel from behind. That=99s about it, but I=99ll try to get
a picture anyway.

Hi Marcus
I might do as you suggest. Do you have a pix of your lights? I still
have time to decide.
Cheers

Les,
I=99m not sure if you got any responses so here=99s my
.02. I have the same pitot and recommend you keep the lights as is.
One is for power, one for low temp, and one for heat on. I
don=99t think you would want just one light and it would take some
creative electronic wizardry to employ a light with 3 colors available.
I just drilled 3 holes in the panel next to the pitot heat switch and
glued the lights in place, it works great.
I haven=99t used any annunciator lights other that what came with
the GRT EFIS so can=99t help you there.

Hi
As I layout my panel I am wondering about what is the best choice for
annuciator lights. I see Stein has some nice LEDS
(http://www.steinair.com/lights.htm) that will do the job.
Has anyone found a similar light that will display red/yellow/green on
the same light? My Gretz heated pitot has a small board with three LEDS
that I would like to combine into a single light.
Inquiring minds need to know

Don McDonald.......thank you for the effort in creating the brackets I just received

Your welcome.- By the way, did the packaging work out ok?- More of a bu
ilder than a shipper.- Hopefully, we'll hear from most of the recipients,
and theirs made it ok too.- I installed the new headset bracket and it w
orks much better than the old one.... I guess we have Rick Sked to thank fo
r asking about it, and then it nudged me enough to, both redesigning it, an
d make it available to everyone.-

Yep...the packaging worked out fine. Even sealed bags for each bracket. No damage.
This was a great solution to one of the things I wanted to create near
completion.
Thanks again,
