In a message dated 11/2/2008 6:36:18 P.M. Pacific Standard Time, jim@combsfive.com writes: Rob, Is the plan: (1) Swap out entire 3400 / 3500 unit (Receive a different serial numbered system) (2) Remove unit from airplane and send to you for upgrade (we keep same serial number unit but have some down time) (3) You send new CPU board to us and we do the swap (Not likely)? (4) something I have not listed? You will need to send us the unit and we will replace the main cpu board in the system. It may be worth running an extra conduit or two=2C depending on the size of conduit you are using. Red high temp silicone grommet for intercylinder baffle fuel hose... Referencing the Lyco IO-540 Parts Manual pg 3-9: AN931-12S17 Grommet 3/4 ID x 1-3/8 OD x 3/8 thick. A bit of research turned up AN931-12S17 is superseded by: MS35489-20X The part was difficult to find and scarce at a reasonable price. The best of the bunch was Broadies Aircraft out of Texas (~$18 each): http://www.broadiesaircraft.com/shop/search.asp?lookup=MS35489-20X Regards, Jay Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=212095#212095

I recall this step well and fluting the tabs helps a lot. However, some of the rivets still "suck up" the skin into rather unsightly indentations. This was especially noticeable around the small bulkhead just fwd of the aft deck. The local tech counselor suggested lightly tapping a beveled 3/4" dowel with a sand filled mallet against the affected rivet shop heads. The indents popped right out and the skin is now flush. I didn't shim anything. Jay Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=212097#212097

Thought I'd share you the feedback from Vans... Phil ----------------------------------------- Phil, File or hammer down the corners of the flanges so that they don't make the outward dent in the skin, then shim the flange to make the bulkhead fit the skin better.
