| Subject: | List Fund Raiser |

A couple of years ago I implemented an automatic "squelch button" of sorts for
the Fund Raiser messages. Here's how it works... As soon as a List member makes
      a
Contribution through the Matronics Fund Raiser web site, he or she will instantly
cease to receive these Fund Raiser messages for the rest of the month! Its
just that simple. Don't you wish PBS worked that way! :-)

I really do appreciate each and every one of your individual Contributions to support
the Lists. It is your support that enables me to upgrade the hardware
      and
software that are required to run a List Site like this. It also goes to pay for
the commercial-grade Internet connection and to pay the huge electric bill
      to
keep the computer gear running and the air conditioner powered on. I run all of
the Matronics Email List and Forums sites here locally which allows me to
control and monitor every aspect of the system for the utmost in reliably and performance.

Your personal Contribution matters because, when combined with other Listers such
as yourself, it pays the bills to keep this site up and running. I accept
exactly ZERO advertising dollars for the Matronics Lists sites. I can't stand
the pop-up ads and all other commercials that are so prevalent on the Internet
these days and I particularly don't want to have it on my Email List sites.

If you appreciate the ad-free, grass-roots, down-home feel of the Matronics Email
Lists, please make a Contribution to keep it that way!!

              http://www.matronics.com/contribution

      Thank you!

[Note that there are certain circumstances where you might still see a Contribution
related message. For example, if someone replies to one of the messages,
when using the List Browse feature, or when accessing List message via the Forum.
The system keys on the given email address and since most of these are
anonymous public access methods, there is no simple way to filter them.]

Lay up a 2 ply flat layup on your table with release agent. Cut a piece of
this and slip it between the top and bottom trailing edges and adjust to the
length you need and glue it in with cabosil mix. Let harden and then fill
the top and bottom with chopped fiber mix to make it flush with the rest of
the top and bottom. Finish as usual.

I started fitting my wingtips and found the right one to be about 1/4 inch
short on the trailing edge in relation to the aileron. Vans says just build
up the edge and finish. Anyone have this problem and what is the easiest
      way to lengthen the edge?

I think the designs look great, I posted this to the whole list only to get
feed back on what everyone thinks about dark color on the composites? Ther
e was some talk about the heat affecting certain brands of filler (micro).
My plan is pretty basic and focuses on overall white with=C2-modest trim

      Hi Robin,

I like #1 or #5....here's why - I like to see paint lines flow in the same
direction and give the airplane nice long curves! Personally, I'm not a big
fan of the forward sweep triangle thingy on the tail, because it doesn't
match any other curves on the plane anywhere and just sort of leaves you
      thinking...hmmm...."what's with the tail"?

Anyway, that's just my personal opinion and worth exactly what you paid for
      it!

      Cheers,
      Stein

That was basically my reply to Robin. I love all the designs,
but picked #3 because I think it's wise to avoid dark colors
on a couple areas.....one, the composites (at least the
top and real sun-facing surfaces, and two, the fuel tanks.
You may not have any problem with the glass, the paint, or
anything, but it makes sense to keep any added heat absorption
to a minimum, even on engine cowls. Maybe not a huge
critical problem, but anything that helps is worth
      considering.

Thanks Stein. #1 is my favorite but so many people tell me to keep color
off the top of the canopy & engine? Don't really know why as Cirrus does
      it.

The ones with the funny tail were last minute designs that I decided to
do something to the tail but it does not follow the theme. I would end
up changing the tail if I went with lower paint.

Again I like #1 too just trying to convince myself.

      Thanks again,

      Robin

      Hi Robin,

I like #1 or #5....here's why - I like to see paint lines flow in the
same direction and give the airplane nice long curves! Personally, I'm
not a big fan of the forward sweep triangle thingy on the tail, because
it doesn't match any other curves on the plane anywhere and just sort of
leaves you thinking...hmmm...."what's with the tail"?

Anyway, that's just my personal opinion and worth exactly what you paid
      for it!

      Cheers,

      Stein

| Subject: | RV-10 Whirl Wind prop |

      To the flying RV-10's,

I talked to Greg Anderson today at Whirl Wind Aviation. He has a new
two blade carbon fiber prop for the RV-10. Approx. 40 lbs., 81", cost
in the $8,000 range. It is very similar to their 200RV prop. He said
it had some enhancements over the 200RV design.

He is looking for a flying RV-10 to test the prop and do some
comparisons. They have a test prop ready now. If interested, contact
him at 440-275-1540. He said they could ship new props in about twelve
weeks. They want to test one on an RV-10 to be sure there are no
unusual vibration problems. I told him I would post his request on this
      list.

Here is a good read on Whirl Wind props:

My comment about a Cirrus was related to dark colors on the top side of
      the engine and canopy.

One has to throw some at-a-boys to the Cirrus & Columbia designers &

Lay up a 2 ply flat layup on your table with release agent. Cut a
piece of this and slip it between the top and bottom trailing edges and
adjust to the length you need and glue it in with cabosil mix. Let
harden and then fill the top and bottom with chopped fiber mix to make
it flush with the rest of the top and bottom. Finish as usual.

I started fitting my wingtips and found the right one to be about 1/4
inch short on the trailing edge in relation to the aileron. Vans says
just build up the edge and finish. Anyone have this problem and what is
the easiest way to lengthen the edge?

I agree that they are beautiful machines. If you get up next to one,
take a look at their door latch mechanism ..... it looks like a trunk
latch from a small car. I like it .... so much better than the crude
mechanism that comes with the kit. I'd like to make my doors latch like
that too. Anybody know where the latches come from???

Amen to what Rick says. My -10 will be out of the booth next week. I
have done the vast majority of the painting myself. Very happy with the
results, but it has taken me a loooong time to get it to where I feel
good about it. Like setting rivets, the quality of the paint job only
improves with practice and experience. But I recently bit the bullet
and now have the help of a professional spray painter to do the wing top
surfaces and fuse. My results and his compare favourably, but there is
no way that I can achieve the consistent (outstanding) results that come
from his gun. And I don't have to sell the wife and kids to pay for
the paint job - all up it will have cost me well under A$2k (under
      US$1500).

My scheme is also Standard (high opacity) White with basic blue accents
and some vinyls to add some interest. My reasoning is identical to
Rick's and with the blistering heat here in Oz, dark colours on the top
      never factored into the equation.

      cheers,
      Ron
187 looking forward to the BEST Xmas present ever!
