Subject: | Value of the List... |
If you look forward to checking your List email everyday (and a lot of you have
written to say that you do!), then you're probably getting at least $20 or $30
worth of Entertainment from the Lists each year. You'd pay twice that for a
subscription to some lame magazine or even just a single dinner out. Isn't the
List worth at least that much to you?
Won't you please take a minute to make your Contribution today and support the
Lists?

Again, I want to say THANK YOU to everyone that has made a Contribution thus far
during this year's List Fund Raiser!! These Lists are made possible exclusively
through YOUR generosity!!
Thank you for your support!

>If I can put my 2 cents in as well, we all understand and are concerned
about what is happening with our money today. I agree with Stein thats
it's important to find a respected avionics shop. My concern would be
that if you are uncomfortable with the shop you are working with ( to a
point of having to have an escrow account ) I would also be concerned
about the quality of services you might receive. I guess what Im trying
to say is that the money is important ( and the top shops understand that
) but don't overlook the history and strength of the company you choose
to work with as well.

Buying by credit card is in effect an escrow account. The card is billed and
the material is supposed to be shipped. If the time between payment and
delivery is short., the charge can be denied by the buyer for non delivery
or poor workmanship. If the time between purchase and delivery is large then
rejecting the charge becomes a little more difficult by the buyer. There is
also a fee involved . The supplier adds (stated or unstated) to the cost of
the transaction to cover the service fee from the credit card company.
Protect yourself as litigation is not the answer. Just ask someone who has
pursued litigation across state or worse country boundaries. IIRC there is
someone who is still pursuing an engine supplier across the northern border;
they may eventually get pennies on the dollar.

Installed the oil scat tube air controller by www.nonstopaviation.com. Very nicely made product at a very reasonable price. Cruising around at 55% power even with only moderate temps--50'sF--with the larger oil cooler and louvers, only could get 152 oil temp. closed the air controller, and very quickly got 40+ degree jump. With the larger oil cooler and louvers the summer issue is fixed, and this controller seems to have fixed the winter issue. easier to do while building, but not hard as after market product. good product support also. lbb

Dave, can you tell me what source you use for the Silpruf SCS2000? I'd like
to get some for the GlaStar. Aircraft Spruce doesn't seem to carry it. I'm
hoping it's something one can get locally, although I didn't see it
referenced at Home Depot. Nor did a Google search have a source in
Portland, OR. I suppose GlaStar has it, but they over charge.

Whoops, my apologies to the list. Thought I was sending directly to Dave
Saylor. Rick, thanks. Black would do nicely. One tube is all I think I
need. Lemme know how much to send for tube and shipping.

I have never used the stuff; we always used vinyl ester resin and catalyst.
even the windows are glassed in with a combo of catlyzed resin, chopped
fiber and cabosil. they edges were layered with two strips of E-glass cut on
a 45 bias. On what are you using it?

What kind of seal material has been used between air vent (metal) and the
plastic air intake funnel. Rain drips in during flight.Considered proseal or
silicone but wanted a way to remove vent without damage to the plastic.

Subject: | Tony Bengelis Award for 2008 |
The EAA is again opening nominations for the late Tony Bengelis Annual
Award. As I did last year (2007), I will nominate Tim Olson for his
tireless and deep commitment to the Experimental Aircraft community
since beginning his RV-10 #170. Tim has been relentless in pursuit of
safer Amateur Built Aircraft, his contributions continue to be
invaluable and a constant resource. He has been a major player at
every juncture of our kit build challenge. Any of you that agree can
Give the submittal about one week before any additional supporting
comments to the EAA. To Tim, it Didn't matter if it was being the
mediator in the D2A fiasco on Christmas Eve, parking the scores of
RV-10s at OSH, overhauling the Unison/Slick Mags or showing how a family
can build a project together. It was just last Saturday that Bob
Condrey reminded me of Tim's contribution to silkscreen instrument
panels on the kitchen table. Tim embodies the same characteristics of
Tony. Someday I dream that I can buy a book for a future Young Eagle,
the definitive book authored by Tim on how to build a 21st Century
Amateur Built Airplane at your own home.
Our group has been lucky that Tim encouraged us to migrate from Yahoo
over to this Sharing Forum that Matt provides. Dan Lloyd #269 and I
both enjoyed our discussions and assistance from Tim.
