Figured if I ever had to remove them, it would be time to replace them. BTW what a great machine. Flew out to Lubbock from Paris (318 nm). 2.1 hrs out and 1.9 hrs back. Ground speed 154 and 182 kts on the garmin at 23 squared. My son had yet to see the 10 in flying condition. It didn't take him long to see the benefits of Dad's toy that he has worked on for the last 3 years. :) I have two tubes of black silpruf if anybody needs them. And a pair of axle extensions. I did the door and back windows with the silpruf and the windshield with weld on. I'm very happy with how they turned out. Dr Fred 50 hrs and climbing. ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 07:47:09 AM PST US Subject: RV10-List: Measuring spar holes (take 2) From: "Dawson-Townsend,Timothy" Listers: I'm still out of town and not able to get to the hangar right now. And I guess I didn't phrase my question clear enough last time, since the answer I got was correct, but not exactly what I needed. Namely, could someone who's working on their kit today or tomorrow measure the center-to-center hole spacing for the spar bolt holes, either in the end of their spar, or the fuselage spar bulkhead assembly? And by that I mean the lateral spacing, not the vertical spacing. (i.e. across the width of the four holes, what is the spacing?) Much obliged . . . This is not with a caliper, so may be off by a little, but it's a quick measurement. Hope this helps. This is for a stock located throttle quadrant. The cable lengths are 52.5, 49.5, and 70.5 inches. I am sure the 70.5 is the prop but is the 52.5 for the throttle or the mixture? -------- Gary Blankenbiller RV10 - # 40674 Instrument Panel, Fiberglass - SB (N2GB registered) Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=216216#216216 ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 09:35:06 AM PST US Subject: Re: RV10-List: Throttle quad cable lengths From: "DejaVu" Page FF3-2 says: CT BLK THROTTLE 47.5 CT BLUE VPROP 72.5 CT RED VMIXTURE 51.5 Anh N591VU-flying > > Ok, I can't find it documented and a quick call to Vans tech support > couldn't find it but which cable goes to which either? > > This is for a stock located throttle quadrant. From these lengths, I would assume the throttle is the 49.5 and the mixture is the 52.5. I am just trying to confirm these lengths before I install them and the engine this weekend. -------- Gary Blankenbiller RV10 - # 40674 Engine, Fiberglass - SB (N2GB registered) Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=216224#216224 ________________________________ Message 8 _____________________________________ Time: 10:13:29 AM PST US Subject: Re: RV10-List: Re: Throttle quad cable lengths From: "DejaVu" Gary, that makes sense. He apparently had an aneurysm and died in his sleep. Im not sure if Teri has notified any of you yet, and hopefully I dont appear to act in poor taste in this very grievous time. I just feel you all should know as soon as possible. We have a vertical draft induction. After double and triple checking all positions were correct, we ordered a new cable from Van's. The throttle cable for the RV-7 is 3" longer (50.5") than the throttle cable for the RV-10 (47.5"). Has anyone else had this issue, am I missing something? The next step is to route the cable to operate the fuel purge valve located on the top of the engine. I would appreciate seeing how others routed and connected this cable. Pictures would be very helpful.... I will most likely add a spring return to this control that would hold the valve open if the cable were to fail. Or, did you just put trust in the system to work and deal with flap failure which may be a very unlikely event. Trying to FMEA this. The reason for that is if you have any change in pitch for no apparent reason you can quickly pull both breakers until you figure it out.
