I have attached my avionics interconnect spreadsheet. It does not
include the connections to lights, engine but does include the interface
between the EFIS, NAVCOM, Transponder, audio panel and GPS. I used
this to build a harness for the stack.
It may be of some use
to others.
My configuration is:
EFIS -> Advanced
Flight Systems AF3500 EE
NavCom -> Garmin SL-30
Transponder
-> Garmin 327
GPS -> Serial BR-355
Audio -> PS8000B

Nice easy way to map the connections! Never thought of laying them out in E

Hey everyone,
I got my official response from Van's today regarding=C2-the problem cowl
I own:
"If you'd noticed this prior to fitting the cowl, the easiest solution woul
d
obviously have been to send a new top cowl. As it is now, I think it would
be
less work to fix the cowl you have. It doesn't require any particular
composites skill beyond what is normal for RV building. There are no
structural concerns; the cowl is not a structural part - it's just there to
smooth
airflow over the engine. You just want it to be stable and strong enough no
t
to be damaged in use.
I would attack the problem from the inside to avoid disturbing the out laye
r. If
you cut away the inner shell and core of the affected areas, you can lay up
more glass cloth on the inside of the outer shell to thicken and strengthen
it.
It needs to overlap the cut edge so no core is left exposed.
You could remove the outer shell, leaving the core in place since it doesn'
t
seem to be bonded onto the shell, then reinstall the cut portion with some
resin onto the core. This may be easier than the first choice above, but ha
s
the danger that you may disturb the surface so it is not so smooth as it is
now."
Vans
I don't fully agree with everything stated in Van's response.=C2- I'm sti
ll leaning toward a replacement...but thought it would be good to get any a
dditional input to the above comments before proceeding.=C2- I also plan
to visit this with my local EAA Tech Advisor that just happens to build Coz
ys.

Time to get seat belts on order. During construction we have discussed using 5
point harnesses in the front and back. I like 5 point harnesses when the shoulder
straps are not mounted to an inertia reel. The shoulder straps have a way
of pulling the lap belt up into your stomach, the submarine strap helps hold
the belts down low where they belong. I have spent alot of time in race cars
actually using seat belts (sometimes it just seemed like the car would fit,
huh). Needless to say proper seat belt placement really helps keep the black
and blue where your body can best deal with it. Enough about that , sorry to
digress but I know the first question I will get is "why 5 point harnesses?".
I don't think making an anchor for the front submarine strap will be a problem,
but need help in determining what belts to buy. Vans has said that I could use
the same 4 point belts for the front seats in the rear seats. Does this mean
that I can use the 5 point belts for the rear seats in the front? Are the
shoulder belts anchored the same way? Would 5 point belts from an 8 or 4 work?
Thanks, Jason Kreidler

I went with inertia reels and removed the 5 point from the back
seat...see
attached picture.

I know...not much help with what you are asking, but I do like my belts.

It's been a while but I remember that Van's harnesses are all the same,
front or rear. So yes you can use the 5-point for the front and vice
versa. If you can find a way to add anchor tabs in the front like the ones
in the rear, it should work.
