I'm assuming that when you say wet, you mean like how they apply things like window tinting where you spray a slightly soapy water to help position it. If that's the case I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a couple weeks for all the water to evaporate out allowing the adhesive to really grab. I didn't sleep at a HI Express last night so that's just a SWAG. Michael -----Original Message----- From: owner-rv10-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-rv10-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Deems Davis Sent: Tuesday, December 02, 2008 8:10 PM Subject: RV10-List: 3M flap anti chafe tape I was given some of the above from a friend, and intend to apply it to the underside of the wing trailing edge to protect the paint on the flaps. My question is: Just how sticky is the adhesive supposed to be? I've got and followed the printed instruction from 3M on a 'wet' application, and applied a 10" test piece tonight and will check it in the morning, But to my mind this stuff peels off too easily. For those of you that have applied this, is this something that you should be able to peel off without a lot of force, or is this something that should stick like the foam double sided tape? Hey Jim, Thanks for the print out tip -- I have to admit, I was one of those who opened the file, my vision glazed over, and I filed it away in case I needed it later. Now, printed out, it is much easier. Later, - Lew -------- non-pilot crazy about building NOW OFICIALLY BUILDER #40549 Prop is on, cowl almost finished, paint prep! Yeah, they recommend a solution of 75% water 25% Iso Prop Alcohol and 4 drops of detergent then squeege the water out and let set overnight. I'll run the 'peel test' today. I thought I'd post the results of the overnight test. I applied a 10" x 1" piece of the 3M tape using the 'wet' method. Let it 'cure' overnight and today I peeled it off ........ along with some of the clear coat and the base coat !!!!! So. conclusion, although the tape itself when you peel off the backing paper doesn't feel super sticky to the finger touch. If applied following the instructions it appears it has plenty of adhesion strength!!!!! Thanks for the feedback from others Deems Davis # 406 'Its all done....Its just not put together' http://deemsrv10.com/ >

Is that tape supposed to be an "install once, never replace" tape, or what do they market it like? Do they have a removal method that wouldn't do that? Subject: Access under front seats
    From: "McGANN, Ron" <ron.mcgann@baesystems.com>
G'day all, Painting is finished, so I am in the process of final tidy up in the cabin. I really just need to finish wiring the sticks and install the seats. I have a terminal block located under the front seats to connect the stick wiring to. Can someone please advise what access is available to the under seat area once the seats are installed? Eg do the seats slide all the way back to provide access to the under seat area, or do you need to remove the seats completely to gain access to the area under the seat pans? Thanks in advance Ron -187 maybe the BEST Xmas present ever??? "Warning: The information contained in this email and any attached files is confidential to BAE Systems Australia. Ron; I've had to take the flap cover off before I could try to remove the seats. Haven't tried to get to the back screws of the cover plate yet with the seat in place. You might be able to slide the seats back and forth to get to the individual screws and then get access. Either way, it only takes a couple minutes to pull the flap cover screws to get the seat out of your way. You can go ahead and install the seat rails without any problem. Hope this helps. Dr Fred. Another technique is to cut down the front part of the nylon (or whatever material it is) slides by about 3/4". This then allows the seats to be tilted up and will clear the flap tube covers. You can't slide the seats back far enough without taking the side handles off. Once those handles come off you might as well take the seats off. We are not alone. Just read the accident report for yesterday. A DA42 lost a door in flight yesterday at Casa Grande AZ. No indication of the response of the flight instructor or foreign student.
