Vern,
Here is a front view from the front. There is a
right angle fitting at the fuel servo and the line runs along side it back
to the fuel pump. The DAR suggested and helped me attach the scat
tubing to the fuel line for the same reason. Get it away from the
exhaust.

Jim,
Do you ( or anyone else) have a photo of the area about
6" under the

In my quest to find a small ethernet hub (for the two AFS units to
talk to each other) yesterday I discovered that the common Linksys
and Netgear models are 7.5V. Should I be able to find a 12V hub?
If not, how do I step the voltage down?

GRT recently shipped me a unit to connect my 3 GRT units. It was a bit
pricey at $165. I questioned whether I should be able to just go out
and find a hub for a better price. They commented that this is an
'industrial' or 'commercial' grade product and that I might have a hard
time finding something equivalent.
It's a EIBA5100T/R (DIN- rail mount) from Comtemporary Controls. The
installation guides says "....hubs are designed for the Building
Automation Environment". It has 5 ports, it s 3.5x3.31 by 1". It can
be powered by AC 8-24V or DC 10-36V - no setup reuqired

Looks good to this builder.

Hi Jeff,
If you only have two ethernet devices, you should be able to use an
ethernet cross-over cable and have no need for a ethernet hub/switch.
If you have 3 or more ethernet devices, you'll need a hub or switch.
Here is a link to a typical cross-over cable:
<http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16812107216>
Here are lots more to choose from:
<http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.aspx?Submit=ENE&N 52810132%201230513960&bop=And&Order=RATING>
Here are lots of ethernet switches - One of them will likely run off
12v directly:
<http://www.newegg.com/Store/SubCategory.aspx?SubCategory=30&name=Switches>
Does AFS have any recommendations? If you can use a direct cross-over
cable, that would be best I think.

A search through the AFS support forum turn up the recommendation of a
Linksys SD205 5 port switch.
It is 12 volts and costs about $35.
Here is the spec sheet.

We have them on our website for $145 in the accessories section...same unit.
They indeed are great little boxes that are very nicely built. Industrial
panel mount with metal enclosures. It's what we've been installing for all
the AFS or GRT panels we've been using.
Cheers,

I have a 3500 and a 3400. They just hooked together with a cable. No
need for a hub. I'd call AFS before I bought a hub.

so am I but I think the third on the firewall will provide more flexibility
to load the baggage area. Since the fuel burn moves the CG aft , the pitch
controls get lighter than I like. Also my main batteries don't seem to get
recharged completely given the fixed output from the alternator and the long
run to the batteries. Two batteries to start works fine but sometimes a
single battery start is slow

David, I have thought about going to a single 680 on the firewall. My
CG is
aft and 4 adults is tough with the CG that way. You say cranking on one
680
can be slow...how often to you crank with 1 batt. Would it be worth me
testing the single battery config?

I think it will depend on the following factors:=C2- 1. Weather - if it's
cold, it will be tougher to turn over.=C2-=C2- 2.=C2- Compression -
if your engine has any increase in compression from stock it'll be=C2-tou
gher to turn over.=C2-=C2- 3.=C2- Dependability - Does it fire right
away,,, every time?=C2- Another consideration is hot starts, sometimes th
ey can be a problem.
What I can tell you is that mine will start with one battery, but if I have
a problem of any sorts, it's really nice to flip that second switch..... s
pins it right up.
That's my 2 cents.
