Subject: | Question for the door experts |
Hi
Well today I start on my doors. First I trimmed the door opening to
about
1/8=94 from the scribe lines. Then, as per the plans, I trimmed the door
halves and drilled the index holes. Well, the first problem was that the
window index holes didn=92t align ' two were off by =BD=94. Next I
found the
forward index hole did not match the hole left open on the forward fuse
skin. TRhe door index holes is high by at least a couple of inches
compared
to the hole in the fuse skin.
Has anyone else run into this problem and if so how did you deal with
it? I
spoke to Ken Scott at Van=92s who mentioned that this was a first for
him. I
guess I am just lucky.
Cheers
Les

Must be short term memory, I believe I had a similar conversation with him
a couple months back. I just fit the door based on pictures and look along
with making sure it had even spacing from the inside.

Subject: | Re: Photos of Van's Strobe sidewall mount? |
Thanks for all of the great pics and stuff along the way guys.
That Van's plate would come in handy for mounting a bunch of
things. Wish they'd have had them when I built mine. But, it
wouldn't have been perfect for my needs anyway. I did get it
done last night though, and here is the result:

The big difference is, I needed something easily removable.

Subject: | Front wheel service |
Looks like I'm the first to respond Yes to your question. Very
unconventional, but I found if I put a standard wheel chock forward of the
wheel, then put a 2x4 under the nut on the bottom of the fork, over the
chock and then sit on it I can lever the wheel up comfortably, remove the
wheel and then put boards under the fork while I work on the wheel.
There are some stability concerns, but it's worked great for me using a
little caution.

Subject: Re: RV10-List: EA10 electric aileron trim
Do you mean the standard Van's RV-10 Electric Aileron Trim,
like Section OP-38 in the plans? If so, it seems to work
real well...better than I figured it would. The fuel
imbalance, (and in my case the pilot vs. wife imbalance)
can be pretty significant, so I find I use it on most of
the X/C trips. No real complaints.
