Subject: | Re: Camper Rentals for OSH |
Thats right. For those entertaining the idea of renting
up there, it's about 3 hours travel time from the RV
dealer to OSH. So it would be a 6 hour round trip...twice,
since you'd have to return it. Not sure what you do for
a tow vehicle if you fly your plane to OSH, either. But
if you're driving from the NorthWest through the MSP
area, it wouldn't be too inconvenient. If you're coming
from any other direction, you may be better off finding
somewhere else, like Madison, to rent. I know some people
have rented in that area before.

Hi all,
I've gotten a couple of emails from people requesting info on
where you can rent campers/motorhomes/popups/trailers for OSH,
so I asked a couple of people who did it. I haven't done
this myself, so none of it is firsthand knowledge. But, it may
help. If you have used someone else, feel free to reply to
the thread and throw in your contact, as well. Maybe next
year then I'll have a list in place to help well before
the show.
One option is: <http://www.foxvalleyrv.com/>
http://www.foxvalleyrv.com/
Another is: <http://www.vanboxtelrv.com/>
http://www.vanboxtelrv.com/
One note is that the prices on their website do not always apply
to the week of OSH, but if you contact them, they can provide
the pricing details.
I'm, sure there are many more options, but the above 2 are ones
that people I know have told me about.

We are looking to arrive Sat PM leaving Wed AM. First flight should happen the
week of the 7th if all goes well...don't worry we are not rushing anything this
is all well planned. I have at my disposal a few bonafide USAF test pilots itchin
to write, and perform the test program. Seems they don't get to really do
this in real life from start to scratch.

Yet another option - I know somebody that used these guys a couple years
ago and liked them a lot. He was even able to get one on relative short
notice.
http://www.jerryscampingcenter.com/
Some of the places actually will deliver to the campgrounds so if you
fly in there isn't an issue - in fact, that is what Vic did last year.
If you are flying in and are in a bind because you want to rent a
trailer but can only find one from a place that doesn't deliver, contact
me offline and we might be able to work something out as long as it's
not too far from OSH (Madison would be about as far as I'd consider).
It might cost you a case of beer or some food for an RV-10 group cookout
though :-)

Vanboxtel delivered the trailer that I rented last year. From discussing
with a couple others that rented from them, it appeared that their delivery
charges with higher for procrastinators. I reserved mine in February. I
had a few minor issues, but overall the experience was good. I'll share the
issues offline if anyone wants to know the details. Unfortunately, due to
budget restrictions, I will be in a tent again this year.

Just make sure if any are out of the F-22 squadron they remember that the big fan
up front is what makes them go and it can't be vectored. :)

For anyone that used the Loehle Wonder-Fil, how much did you need for the cabin
top and cowling?

Another option I did for years is to rent a room in a private house.
Eugene Arnoldussen rents rooms, he will serve you breakfast and take you
to and pick you up from the front gate.

Yet another option - I know somebody that used these guys a couple
years ago and liked them a lot. He was even able to get one on relative
short notice.
http://www.jerryscampingcenter.com/
Some of the places actually will deliver to the campgrounds so if you
fly in there isn't an issue - in fact, that is what Vic did last year.
If you are flying in and are in a bind because you want to rent a
trailer but can only find one from a place that doesn't deliver, contact
me offline and we might be able to work something out as long as it's
not too far from OSH (Madison would be about as far as I'd consider).
It might cost you a case of beer or some food for an RV-10 group cookout

Heck, that's 20 minutes from home for me. ;)
They book up fast.

It's a bit of a drive (but not in relation to the whole trip, for
us!) but this will be our third rental from TNT RV Rentals in Chippewa
Falls. The prices are quite a bit better than ORD or OSH. They're very
friendly and a pleasure to deal with.

Hi all,
I've gotten a couple of emails from people requesting info on
where you can rent campers/motorhomes/popups/trailers for OSH,
so I asked a couple of people who did it. I haven't done
this myself, so none of it is firsthand knowledge. But, it may
help. If you have used someone else, feel free to reply to
the thread and throw in your contact, as well. Maybe next
year then I'll have a list in place to help well before
the show.
One option is: http://www.foxvalleyrv.com/
Another is: http://www.vanboxtelrv.com/
One note is that the prices on their website do not always apply
to the week of OSH, but if you contact them, they can provide
the pricing details.
I'm, sure there are many more options, but the above 2 are ones
that people I know have told me about.

The Oshkosh Visitor's Bureau has a private housing database:
http://www.visitoshkosh.com/eaa-house.cfm
and a hotel vacancies list:
http://www.visitoshkosh.com/eaa-hotel.cfm
The Airventure web site also has lodging links:
http://www.airventure.org/planning/where_to_stay.html
For RVs & trailers, CruiseAmerica has a site in Milwaukee. In the past
they've delivered them right to the site.

No problem. The alternators are BnC, mags are Slick, the pg is set for a
Hartzell prop. I'll have to check tomorrow on the oil cooler and
exhaust.
The New Firewall Forward had the Workmanship warranty for the inpection.
Cylinders "may" be covered by Lycoming.
I'll find out more tomorrow.
