    From: "Dawson-Townsend,Timothy" <tdawson-townsend@aurora.aero>
All: Testing the trim (Safety-Trim) and trim indicator (Ray Allen), I got just one lit bar, at the far end of the indicator range. (can't tell yet whether it's the "up" or "down" end) Checking things, somehow I was applying 24 volts to the indictor power! I fixed that, but the result is the same. Do you think I "toasted" the indicator and now it will only show that one lit bar at the end of the scale, or is there some debugging I can do between the three signal wires from the trim servo? I looked for some info from Ray Allen on debugging at that level, without success. I figure RAC will answer my question on Monday, but thought I would try the list in case anyone has some insight there. Thanks, TDT Tim Dawson-Townsend 40025 tdt@aurora.aero 617-500-4812 (office) 617-905-4800 (mobile)

You might have fried some of the individual LEDs. If you apply 12V directly to the indicator input line all LEDs should light. I don't have the indicator schematic handy but that is how I recall it is wired. When you applied 24V you got twice the current going through the elements. Depending on how long and the current capacity of the diodes they might e OK. At least one of them is.. I've been getting a lot of e-mails about this, and plan to answer them soon, but I'm on the road right now with my family and haven't had a change to respond to everybody yet. In short, they are fiberglass, our design and our mold, and in the small amount of testing we have done so far with the quick fit that we did before the show, we are showing a 4Kt increase in cruise speed and a 3Kt slower stall speed. We have noticed no odd flight characteristics so far in about 15-20 hours of flying with them. We do plan to offer them for sale, but do not yet know the price or the format. We will probably offer two versions, one just as it comes out of the mold and one already filled, sanded and painted a basic white color ready for screw holes and final color paint. The row of screws will fit with the upper wing root fairing on the wing side and will require with nutplates or rivnuts along the side skin of the fuselage. We only used about 4-5 rivnuts and got a pretty good fit along the fuse side skin, but a few more will give it a little better snug along that side. Our plane has the uppwer wing root fairing still on under the fiberglass fairing, but Van's (KK) said that their stress testing was done without the metal fairings in place, so they could be left out if desired. It will require that people not step on the area now covered with the root fairing, but rather on the wing skin itself. I know a lot of people only have their non-skid on the wing itself and others have it on the root fairing. I personally have never stepped on the root fairing to get in, but for those who do, it might take a little bit of adjustment. More info to follow to those who contact me off the list. I will work on pricing and will reply to all of those who contact me off list with more details, pictures and pricing. do not archive Jesse Saint Saint Aviation, Inc. jesse@saintaviation.com Cell: 352-427-0285 Fax: 815-377-3694

Does the trim actually move but the indicator does not? I went out and tested the POS-12 for my flaps and was able to get the indicator to move as I moved the trim itself, however it stayed in one position when the trim was not powered/working. could be a matter of calibrating it as well, if it's on the EFIS or other component. I just dropped off my RV for interior work at Plane Plastics in Alva Oklahoma on Saturday. They are going to create the prototype vacuum formed trim for the side panels, windows, etc. I will be picking the plane up late in September and will let everyone know how it turns out. I got a short tour of the facility and have to admit, I was impressed. They have a serious operation with a warehouse full of molds for various new and old planes. I will also pass along any progress pictures I might get. Below are a couple of pictures of their parts warehouse. Do not archive. IMG_0005.JPG IMG_0007.JPG

I believe they are under new management (hope so?) ; I had my C177RG sent there (late 80s) (Kinze Industries) to get a new plastic interior and they returned the aircraft in an incomplete state and left lots of plastic shavings in the vents and under the facade. They simply underestimated the job and then worked the estimated hours and then some and quit. Sending back an incomplete airplane with several parts untrimmed or fitted. _____ From: owner-rv10-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-rv10-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Rob Kermanj Sent: Sunday, August 09, 2009 6:45 PM Subject: RV10-List: RV10 Interior I just dropped off my RV for interior work at Plane Plastics in Alva Oklahoma on Saturday.
