Subject: | Re: iPhone SkyCharts |
Thanks for the feedback. I agree that it's great, especially with the
recent bug fixes. I'd even be happy paying some reasonable yearly fee
for the peace of mind it gives me of having all current charts with me.
I usually print plates for my destination and alternate, but it's nice
having everything in the area.
In "airplane mode" I don't think it's doing any transmitting of
anything, so it shouldn't interfere with the aircraft systems.

Not that you wouldn't want a backup print copy with you.

SkyCharts, which has been out for quite a while ($9.99) now lets you

will have to recache the new data, but it's a great way to have a copy
(or an extra copy) of all the approach plates for your route.

If you haven't installed the seat pan yet then you won't need an access panel.
Install the antenna doubler with plate nuts added so you can screw in/out the
antenna from the outside. Give yourself an extra loop of coax - enough coax
to pull out the hole to disconnect.

Don is correct. Unless you retire the airplane to the recycle bin sooner or later
you will have to do the SB; may as well do it sooner.

Subject: | Re: Voyager sale Fri only |
I noticed the same thing with the departure procedures. Also, when I did a
"just download the procedures that have changed", it did not pick up the
revision to the departure procedures. When I did a "download them all" it
did. I did bite on the lifetime subscription, but I am not the die-hard fan
that Tim is. I only hope that there involvement with BK will lead to a
better product. I download the pdfs from nacomatic.com as well as using
voyager. Basically when I use the product I hear a little nagging voice in
the back of my head that says that it is a POS, but I still refuse to listen
to it. Afterall, I don't even have my IFR ticket yet, so what do I know?

Well, I flew my first official IFR solo flight today in the RV-10 (after
passing my IFR checkride a couple of weeks ago). For those who need the
extra encouragement in building, this is an incredibly stable platform
for IFR flight, especially with a good autopilot driven by a good IFR
GPS.

Jesse
Congrats
It is amazing the feeling the first time you put your head in the clouds
by
yourself for the first time, I did that a few months after passing my
insterment check ride on the way to Las Vegas the first of August never
thought I would see ifr conditions in August on the way to Las Vegas
from
California.
I just did 4 approaches in the Saratoga in the fog down to 200 and =BD
vis.
During my IPC check man was that nerve racking.

Big congrats to you...that's a huge accomplishment and now you've
earned the lower insurance besides. :) You're right, it's a
plane that is just perfect for IFR X/C flights. Glad
you're having a good time!

Jesse that is awesome. I think the IFR rating has to be the most
rewarding
and quite honestly the most fun. I remember my first couple solo IFR
flights after getting my ticket as well. It seemed like such a mental
game
trying to shut off your brain from making you freak out=85. =93Oh gosh
this is
for real and I=92m all by myself=85=94. Plan the flight fly the plan
that=92s the
key (developing a consistent scan doesn=92t hurt either).
John=85 I would definitely agree with you on the 200 and =BD mile. At
some
point when your in the soup below 400ft and down to DH at minimums I
always
tend to have that =93this is crazy=94 though pop into my head for a
brief
second. I do enjoy the challenges of actual IMC psychological or
otherwise.
Unfortunately I don=92t fly enough during the build to even consider
IFR.
Looking forward to one day getting back into the swing of it behind our
technically advanced sleds!! It seems light years ahead of the six
packs
I=92ve only ever flown actual with.
