Subject: | 4 Engine Brackets & Mounts for Lycoming 540 engine Produ |
4 Engine Brackets & Mounts for Lycoming 540 engine Product ID: 70456 is up for
sale on eBay. Here is the listing:
540 Lycoming Engine Brackets & Mounts
You are bidding on brackets that fit most Lycoming engines requiring the 1.380
mount hole. This is being offered by a Rocket builder which needed the large
hole ears and trying to sell the small hole versions. You will find them selling
for around $100.00 each for just the brackets so please bid in that ball park.
I will be posting on the RV matronics site to generate interest. The builder
did try to mount the engine so they are slightly used. I understand that
RV 10 users are in need of these so spread the word!
4 Engine Brackets & Mounts for Lycoming 540-Part #70456
Current price: $112.50
End time: Dec-29-09 19:00:00 PST

Just a follow up to he previous post. The problem was the probe; First I
examined the probe and did not find it to be destroyed like the first so I
considered that it might me the bad crimps in the connection to the EIS.
After re-crimping and soldering, the probe still read 500F below the others.
After replacing the probe with a new higher? quality one from GRT, the #6
probe reacts like the others. For future reference it would probably be in
the builders best interest to pay extra for the higher quality probes or get
them from Alcore or GEM or EI instead. I have spent an extra 5-10 hours of
labor checking and changing these probes. If there is another premature
failure on the GRT originals I may try GRT higher quality probes, If #6
fails prematurely I will be going the third party probe route.

Subject: | Tail Cone Longerons |
Question about countersinking forward most skin holes of longerons:
There is much reference throughout plans cautioning not to final drill or dimple
holes related to forward tail cone F-1006 Bulkhead. Page 10-11 step 2 has builder
match-drill all common holes to side skins and longerons. Page 10-16 step
1 has builder machine countersink all skins holes in longerons except those
aft associated with empennage gap cover.
My question is that the forward most longeron hole aligns with a back tab of the
forward F-1006 Bulkhead and I just want to make certain I read this right that
this most forward hole gets countersunk now and not later at some point when
the tail cone is matched and jointed to the forward fuselage.
Any other "gouge" would be appreciated. I've read through Tim's gottchas and notes
but did not see reference to this specific issue.
Just being careful,
Tom Koelzer
