Interesting that you mention Starr. I'd never even heard about them
before because the agent only quotes the most reasonably priced
insurers. This year with AIG up, they were about to quote Global
and Starr, but had a note that they didn't include the Starr quote
because it was "a lot higher". When you have compared quotes, have
you always had them compare Global and AIG with Starr?

AIG spun off the aircraft insurance unit, IIRC. Now called Chartis

Phil, it is possible and I'm doing it. Take a look at this filter for $28.95 from
Summit Racing. Very small and filters to 40 microns:

Hmm, I specifically asked the agent to get and include quotes from
Global & AIG last year, because of the favorable feedback on the list.
But Starr came in below both of them, one interesting thing was that the
liability coverage for all of the other quotes was nearly the same, it
was the hull coverage that seemed to vary the most, but with Starr, the
liability was higher but the hull was significantly lower.
One thing to ask is whether your agent has an active agency agreement
with the markets you want to quote. Most agents maintain arrangements
with multiple companies/carriers but they prefer to send the bulk of
their business through a much narrower segment. Insurance companies
compete vigorously for independent agents business, buy structuring
their comission/fees based on volume incentives.

So does all of the above mean the cabin vent air is being exhausted out the doors
through the gap? Or are there other significant leak paths?

Subject: | Finder's Fee - Thanks for the thought |
I received a letter from Van's declining a finders fee nomination.
Apparently someone sent in the form, but included my name as both the
nominee and the recipient. So to Van's it appears as though I was
nominating myself =-O . They did take the time to look up my address
and contact info and sent a very polite letter. I much appreciate the
thought that was behind this, but wanted to let whoever originated this
that it didn't make the cut. The signature is undecipherable to me. But
it's definitely not mine.

I say if anyone nominated Deems resubmit it, isn't there a builder # on
the sheet?
No reason you can get credit, if they cant figure out who it was they
wont figure out it was resubmitted.. They know in other words.

FWIW, I'd never heard of Starr either, but when I purchased insurance
for my Grumman Yankee last August, they came in at the lowest price
through my agent with equivalent coverage/deductable/etc.
