I'm routing the #2 straight to the starter contactor, then a #4 welding wire to the "safe" side of an ANL style fuse. I will put another wire on the "safe" side for the main bus and the Alternator will be on the other side of the ANL. I could have taken the main bus from the contactor, but I wanted the wire to be on the starboard side. In short, I am isolating the Alternator via an ANL. John -------- #40572 QB. Engine on, wing attach coming soon. Panel delivery soon. N711JG reserved Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=286935#286935

If you're gonna get all fed up with the feds, or the IRS, or whatever, PLEASE, PLEEEEASE, do NOT use your RV-10 to extract your revenge. If you really want to off yourself as part of some twisted attention scheme, at least point your anger directly at the specific politicians who did specific things that were illegal and/or immoral, and not regular folks, and just leave your airplane out of it.... it's cheaper to drive a truck anyway. I'm just tired of morons making it harder for aviation. Pick on some other damn hobby for once, I say. -- Tim Olson - RV-10 N104CD do not archive

I know the media will twist this into a GA problem. TSA will try to expand their BS into GA airports again and hurt the whole industry. I was really bummed to see this too. I hope the general public will look at this as an individual and not tie it to GA, which I doubt. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Tim Olson" <Tim@MyRV10.com> Sent: Thursday, February 18, 2010 1:26 PM Subject: RV10-List: A simple plea > > If you're gonna get all fed up with the feds, or the IRS, > or whatever, PLEASE, PLEEEEASE, do NOT use your RV-10 to > extract your revenge. Fortunately, nobody on the ground was hurt, however, it took out power to 28,000 businesses and residents, including Stanford hospital. The city has been actively trying to close down the airport for as long as i can remember. They think better use would be a car dealership - as if there aren't enough in california already. If it were a brick building, there wouldn't have been much to see I'm sure. Rick's right though...a Ryder truck and some diesel/fertilizer did a heck of a lot more damage, so a small plane really isn't a huge weapon when used on a building. After the good leftist professor (who was a rabid obnoxious Obama supporter) killed three and wounded three in TX, the media has ignored that she probably murdered her own brother and sent a pipe bomb to another person. Very little said in the press. Now they are reporting that there are airports where there is no control in TX; the airplane was first a SR22 , then a Piper Cherokee. Another reporter spoke of the note found in the gallery on board the United Boeing/Airbus flight that made an emergency landing in UT. It used to be that the slogan was "quality is Job One" (Ford?) Ug, here we go again. It started out being about aviation and now it is being turned into political commentary. Maybe it's not "the media" but "the media YOU listen/read/watch!" The professor was from Alabama NOT Texas! When did she become a "rabid obnoxious Obama supporter?" She may have been rabid and obnoxious, but where did the rest come from? Just do a quick search on Amy Bishop Anderson--its all there. But what does that have to do with some guy flying a plane into a building? I know types like you need to be spoofed information with your particular bent, but if ANY intelligent person is willing to do a little work, they can piece it all together themselves and not come up with outrageous commentary. FWIW, I've been reading about that crazy broad killing her brother, all all the weird crap for days. No media shortage on that one either. But, I bet I know what hits #1 on the news tonight, and we all know which path it's gonna take... "We need to control these dangerous..." The funny thing is, from the sounds of it, he could have actually taken more LIVES if he'd just driven a toyota into the parking lot and ran it through the front door. Oh, and to read that guy's whining diatribe about having no retirement over and over again....heck, I don't even have that... and, where did he get the money to buy the airplane? What an idiot. My wife actually said today that we should skip shopping for that 2nd plane at least for a while, because this kind of thing makes the idiots in the country go nuts, and eventually leads to a little more decay in our aviation...so who knows, with the wrong knee-jerk reaction, we could finally bury this adventurous hobby. It wouldn't take much anymore to destroy what's left of the industry, and send a few tens of thousands more people to the unemployment lines. A simple plea Let's stick to the RV-10 and how to get through the building process. Spend more time building and less time listening to the Media. From: William Curtis Sent: Thursday, February 18, 2010 3:30 PM Subject: Re: RV10-List: A simple plea Ug, here we go again. Very little said in the press. Now they are reporting that there are airports where there is no control in TX; the airplane was first a SR22 , then a Piper Cherokee. Another reporter spoke of the note found in the gallery on board the United Boeing/Airbus flight that made an emergency landing in UT. It used to be that the slogan was "quality is Job One" (Ford?) With the media its "Stupidity is Job One" -----Original Message----- From: owner-rv10-list-server@matronics.com [mailto:owner-rv10-list-server@matronics.com] On Behalf Of Tim Olson Sent: Thursday, February 18, 2010 2:38 PM To: rv10-list@matronics.com Subject: Re: RV10-List: A simple plea Yeah, another wack job.... http://www.businessinsider.com/joseph-andrew-stacks-insane-manifesto-2010 -2 http://www.cnn.com/2010/US/02/18/texas.plane.crash/index.html?hpt=T1 Seeing the building burn, it seemed like a lot of fire and stuff, but when you consider that the building looked like it was just stick-built walls with Metal studs, it wasn't like the building was built very tough. If it were a brick building, there wouldn't have been much to see I'm sure. Rick's right though...a Ryder truck and some diesel/fertilizer did a heck of a lot more damage, so a small plane really isn't a huge weapon when used on a building. Ha! If you live in the South, use Red GOP primer, but if in the Midwest or California, go with the blue stuff with the donkey on the can. If you're doing aluminum and are Christian use white primer. Buddhist....use gold. Athiest? The no alodine or primer. There ya go...politics, religion, AND primer! Hey, almost forgot sex! If you're straight, stick to simple color schemes, but if you're gay, add a little flair, like maybe pink and yellow flowers as tail art. Flame away, but whatever you do... Do not archive! Definitely a bad situation, but I was somewhat relieved to hear that it was his airplane and not stolen, as was originally reported. There's all sorts of crazy stuff that could be mandated (and has been in some places) related to locking airplanes, access, etc. I'd like to hear someone's idea for how "security at these small airports" would have prevented what happened today. --"Hey, you're not going to fly that airplane into a building, are you?" --"No sir" --"alright, have a nice flight" -Rob On Thu, Feb 18, 2010 at 4:28 PM, Perry, Phil <Phil.Perry@netapp.com> wrote: > My thoughts exactly, Tim. That is usually my response when some non-pilot type mention something like this. "Light airplanes like these don't carry much, if someone really wanted to do damage they would just rent a Ryder truck, fill it up with fertilizer and diesel and drive it through the front entrance." After a second or two of thought, they usually don't have much else to say. Sounds like that local congress woman went to the same school of electioneering as Chuck Schumer<http://schumer.senate.gov/new_website/record.cfm?id=312974>. Every aviation incident in the NY area, he takes an opportunity to get in front of the news cameras. Now he thinks he knows better than the FAA and wants them to take his suggestion on the training of pilots. -- William N40237 - http://wcurtis.nerv10.com/ On Thu, Feb 18, 2010 at 7:28 PM, Perry, Phil <Phil.Perry@netapp.com> wrote: > My thoughts exactly, Tim. Subject: New Door Latch replacement (commercial plug)
I've just added a solid replacement 3rd latch to my line of parts, it's a drop in part for vans SB. (for those who want to adhere to the vans upgrade) I think it looks a bit more elegant than the aluminum sandwich latch they provided. It'll be available online in a couple days on the website. see this link ( IFLYRV10.COM ) so you can get an idea what it looks like. it will be stocked in stainless and aluminum. stay tuned for the next version which will be the same basic idea that vans provided but will "auto retract" when you open the latch. all to prevent the hole on the exterior of the aircraft. No major mods required.. should be online for sale within the week. more to come..... steve IFLYRV10.COM

Possibly. The westward migration is to the NW where it's warmer. In the winter, in the south, we have "snowbirds", and I see a significant increase in 'snowcubs' headed west.
